PadGadget How -To Guide: How To Preserve Battery Life on Your iPad | PadGadget - 1 views

  •
"Apple's iPad has an impressively long battery life. You can keep your iPad going for about 12 hours before it will need a recharge. Depending on how long you've had your device, you have probably already noticed some activities that drain battery more than others. If you are planning on spending a lot of time outdoors this summer, you may want to think about how to keep your iPad's battery charged for as long as possible. Below are 10 simple tricks to help extend your battery's life, aside from the obvious of not streaming HD movies while sitting in your car and using the 4G network."

Your Private Photos on your iOS Devices? Not so Private After All | PadGadget - 2 views

  •
"Social networking app Path demonstrated a serious flaw in iOS security earlier this month, when it was able to download all of a user's contacts without notification or agreements. As a result, Congress demanded that Apple reveal how it is handling private information, and Apple promised to deliver a more transparent privacy policy."

iPad 3rd Gen (wifi/cellular) - 4 views

  •
Like earlier iPad models, the iPad 3rd Generation (Wi-Fi/Cellular* - AT&T/A-GPS, A1430) -- which some may choose to refer to as the "iPad 3," even though Apple does not -- is a tablet computer for the web, e-mail, photos, video, music, gaming and more. Unlike earlier iPad models, however, the iPad 3rd Gen line is significantly more powerful and the focus has shifted more substantially from consuming content to creating it. All iPad 3rd Gen models most notably feature a "resolutionary" 9.7-inch 2048x1536 (264 ppi) multitouch glossy LED-backlit "retina" display, but also pack a dual-core 1 GHz Apple A5X "system on a chip" with quad core graphics, 1 GB of RAM, 16 GB, 32 GB or 64 GB of flash memory storage, a rear-mounted 5 megapixel "iSight" camera capable of shooting stills and 1080p video and a front-mounted VGA-quality "FaceTime" camera, 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and more. This specific iPad 3rd Gen model also supports 4G LTE connectivity (700, 2100 MHz), intended for use on AT&T's network in the US and Bell, Rogers and Telus in Canada, as well as A-GPS. Battery life is reportedly 10 hours "surfing the web on Wi-Fi, watching video, or listening to music" and 9 hours surfing the web using cellular data. Compared to the iPad 2 models, major differences for the iPad 3rd Gen line include a higher-resolution display, faster processor, better camera, and improved connectivity. *In response to criticism from consumer groups and government agencies, Apple formally changed the advertising of this model from "Wi-Fi + 4G" to "Wi-Fi + Cellular" starting around May 12, 2012.

Siri Acquisition Brings Apple Much Closer to the 'Knowledge Navigator' Concept - Mac Ru... - 4 views

  •
"In 1987, Apple produced a concept video demonstrating a future computer called the Knowledge Navigator. The tablet-like device offered the user a natural language interface, video conferencing, multi-touch display and access to a global network of information. Siri understands what you say, accomplishes tasks for you and adapts to your preferences over time.mSiri can help you find and plan things to do. While seemingly the product of an overactive imagination, Apple's recent acquisition of Siri brings Apple a lot closer to that vision than ever before. Siri reportedly was born from the CALO artificial intelligence project which sought to fulfill a call for a "a cognitive computer system should be able to learn from its experience, as well as by being advised." Apple's value in acquiring Siri appears to be focused on this personal assistance technology. "

8 Studies Show iPads in the Classroom Improve Education - 31 views

  •
Yes, this is the article. But you know what - if you use the ipad as a doorstop - does it make the classroom better? iPads IN the classroom don't make it better, I would argue that technology, used properly, can improve achievement. But technology used improperly is like the human voice used improperly -it can harm. Anyway, since this is making the rounds, you might want to take a look.

  • It is easier to reverse-engineer a television property into a magazine — Oprah, ESPN and more recently the Food Network — than it is to grow a multimedia property out of a magazine.
  • “In the magazine world, they have been allowed to live with the illusion that it is the printed word that creates value,” he said. “But the value actually comes from the attention of the reader.

Collaborative Whiteboard Apps for the Classroom - 14 views

  •
"Interactive and collaborative - Whiteboards are a great way for teachers to explain concepts to their students. With the ability of some iPad apps to record, you ensure that students who did not develop understanding of the concept the first time have the opportunity to watch and listen again and again. Working in small groups or brainstorming as a class, collaborative whiteboards are a great way to share ideas. Work in the same room, on the same network or even from different parts of the country. No matter what you are working on these interactive whiteboards are a great way to document or record your thinking process. "
