Months after teasing us at CES with an announcement of Skype's native VoIP client for the iPhone, the free Skype for iPhone will finally be available to download from the iTunes App Store sometime on Tuesday. Calls on Skype for iPhone work only if you're in range of a Wi-Fi network, so your call quality will in part be at the mercy and strength of wireless networks nearby--calls will not work over the cell phone network on the iPhone (but chatting will.) Another imperfect, but still neat, feature is the ability to accept incoming conference calls. While you won't be able to initiate a call, we're told, you will be able to jump on one if a buddy invites you in.

"Last month Fring released an iPad optimized version of their app that can do 4-way video calling. Now you can talk to 4 people at once and because the screen is cut in 4 you can see everyone. You can make the video calls over 3G as well as WiFi and as an added bonus, Fring is a multi platform app. You can use it to talk and video chat with your friends even if they have an Android device. I can't help but think about ways to use this in education. "

the iPhone G has finally been unlocked. As of a couple of hours ago, the unlocking app called Yellowsn0w, created by a group of hackers calling themselves the iPhone Dev Team, is now available as a free download.

The Inaugural Dust or Magic Children's App Design Institute is a three-day review of the best (magic) and worst (dust) children's media for handheld devices. Apple's value in acquiring Siri appears to be focused on this personal assistance technology. "

Siri is an excellent iPhone app that uses both text and voice to search for locations and much more information.

 Three years ago, we knew nothing about apps, and now they're an integral part of our daily lives. Mobile gaming was virtually unheard of, except for a few iterations of solitaire. Now we can play PC quality games like Infinity Blade and Call of Duty right on our phones and tablets.

AirPrint is definitely one of the more convenient features of iOS 4.2.1 and thanks to a new tool you can turn any printer connected to your Mac or Windows PC into an AirPrint compatible printer. The utility is called AirPrint Hacktivator and it's very easy to use, this is a much simpler method than using the prior hack to manually enable AirPrint in Mac OS X 10.6.5.
