"Today, provided a new venture in the field of technology integration for me, as I was granted the opportunity to lead a staff development training on iPads. As I look back, I now see how I was roped into this position. Here is the short version: "Dan, could you use a set of 20 iPads in your math classroom?" My response, "Absolutely, thank you!" Response back a few months later, "Okay, you got them…by the way would you lead an iPad training?""

"Since November I've had the privledge of teaching with an iPad in my grade one class. Along the way I have discovered a lot of great ways to use it to help my students have their individual learning needs met.  Having just one iPad did bring about its own set of challenges but we were very lucky to have access to some additional iPads in the final term of school.  Next year we will have  iPads again thanks in part to my participation in my school's successful innovative learning grant application and another special project I'm involved with at the school district level.  Needless to say my head has been spinning all summer with ways I can integrate this technology into my classroom with out loosing sight of the important non technology based teaching and learning my students need too."

"My school was lucky enough to get a class set of iPads (unless you have a class with over 30 students), and I was lucky enough to be the one in charge of looking after them. Joshua A. Danish says it takes a village to effectively integrate new technologies such as the iPad into elementary classrooms. As we reported recently, some school districts are investing in iPad2 touchpad tablets in kindergarten classrooms. In an opinion piece published in the Indianapolis Star, Indiana University assistant professor Joshua A. Danish says that though tablets such as the iPad have potential to be a powerful tool for teaching and learning, educators shouldn't jump the gun.

"Silvia Rosenthal Tolisano (of the TeachThought favorite langwitches blog) put together this exploratory presentation that takes a look at exactly how the iPad is functioning in classrooms, while also managing to work in ideas from leaders in education to help "frame" the conversation."

"Like nothing else before it, the iPad has provided a means to involve even these students in music making activities that help develop motor skills, attention span, ability to focus and cognition. In developing these all important skills, students can also become a part of a group that is creating something together, thereby learning how to interact with their peers."

"Here are 10 QR readers for your iPad - all bar one for Free. QR Code scanners can be lots of fun in the classroom. We have used them to generate discussion around types of data, presented classroom information as well as presenting clues to treasure hunts. The treasure hunt idea is always a popular way to finish a unit of work. We normally use QR codes to give hints to the next clue or to the location of the clues. The students have to use the information from the unit of work to solve the clues along the way. Lots of fun, lots of laughs and lots of learning. "
