Evernote Peek uses iPad 2 Smart Cover for Learning ~ ICT For Educators - 3 views

  •
Evernote has a new free app on the App Store which makes use of the Smart Cover to help with learning.  With Evernote Peek,  can fold back the cover to reveal questions and then even further to reveal the answers.       This is great for students who wish to create flashcards to help practice information. To create new practice materials, they simply need to create a new note and add the questions to the title and the answers to the body text.

Managing: The Nuts & Bolts of an iPad Classroom - 18 views

"the management has turned out to be more work than I imagined. Setting up email on each device (gmail worked the best), syncing apps, updates to firmware, making (and re-making) folders and keeping the devices charged has kept me busy. My IT department has been supportive, but they are clear that this is my job and not theirs.  I am not complaining-I wouldn't trade this opportunity for anything-but it has meant a great deal of learning and planning."

School iPad Program - not as easy as I thought! - 9 views

  •
One term into the official launch of our iPad program, I thought it would be opportune to reflect on the successes, failures and everything in between. I have to admit, as a self professed, but not certified, iPad/Mac "expert" and 'All Things Apple' zealot, things haven't gone as smoothly as I'd hoped. I would like to blame it all on our proxy server, but I suspect Apple has something to do with it too.

  • From the different visits, one message became most apparent: when combined with good pedagogy and curriculum planning, the iPad can be used as a powerful tool to help transform teaching and learning.
  • older children are given permission to download apps on their own

  • ...2 more annotations...
  •  iPad has helped to make classes go more smoothly by making access to content more efficient and helping students personalize their learning.
  •    In looking at the devices and talking to students, it was apparnet that they were mostly using apps built into the iPad and Macbooks such as Keynote, Pages (notetaking), Garage Band, iMovie (content creation), iWeb (content sharing and self expression).
