I've used Wikispaces with middle school classes. Very interactive, easy to add students as members. You can add any kind of media, host student projects. I used to have students complete bell-ringers and closure on the message boards. The new Wiki Classroom adds other features. The site says,
"We took the best parts of Wikispaces and added a newsfeed, realtime assessment, and a beautiful mobile experience. We think you'll love it."
A fun colourful website with animation and games introducing touch typing to children aged 7 to 11. This is a great activity for students as it becomes increasingly popular to have students type assignments. Beware the cartoon characters speak with an accent!
Weebly is a great site that I have used for creating websites and blogs with students. I particularly love the blog creator. My students loved how easy it was to personalize their blogs. The finished projects look very professional. The privacy standards are great. My honors class created their own literature study guides by using the blog software.
