This is a good example of how a teacher used technology and tech tools to not only teach her students but coincide with the common core curriculum. Her tip is to use an assignment that her students can use to complete as a grade as well as understanding and focusing on analytical thinking, decoding a document, and being able to explain a math problem.

This article is helpful to us as future teachers. This teacher states that she was always the student falling asleep during her boring lectures. Now that she teaches she has thought of fun and exciting ways to integrate technology into her classroom presentations to keep students engaged! She loves using polls and encourages using social media also!

I think this article is helpful for me because as a future history teacher, lectures and presentations are going to be inevitable. Therefore, its important to think of the students and how they can be actively involved and engaged and enjoying the lesson!

Technology integration is the use of technology resources like computers, mobile devices like and tablets, digital cameras, social media platforms and networks, software applications, the Internet, and so on in daily classroom practices, and in the management of a school. This article discusses the successful ways you can incorporate this into the classrooms for your students.

They start off by defining technology and quoting "Effective integration of technology is achieved when students are able to select technology tools to help them obtain information in a timely manner, analyze and synthesize the information, and present it professionally. When effectively integrated into the curriculum, technology tools can extend learning in powerful ways. I like that this article is very detailed in how to effectively use technology in the classroom. According to the article, technology incorporation should be seamless, second-nature. The way we use pen and paper today should be the way technology is used. We don't stop to think about how to use the pen and paper in a class; ideally, the same thing should be happening in blended classrooms.

This article can be helpful to our group because it explains the positive and negative effects of technology integration. It also reiterates how integrating technology can be proactive and ways it will have the opposite effect. This article states the importance of being familiar with new technology and reading this made me very appreciative of our class here at Stockton.

This article explains the best way to integrate technology. It mentions Edmodo, which we use in our classroom, as well as other applications that can be used within a classroom. It speaks about having a balance in your classroom, and mentions the best method to integrating technology is to have a plan as well as a back up plan. 

It is important as a teacher to know how to use classroom management especially with technology involved in the classroom.

I also found this article very interesting. It points out very important information on applications used in the classroom, integrating technology, and always having a back up plan which is very important.

Abstract The problem of integrating technology into teaching and learning process has become a perennial one. Common excuses for the limited use of technology to support instruction include shortage of computers, lack of computer skill and computer intimidation.

This article was good in addressing issues in teachers limiting themselves to only integrating technology they were comfortable with, and the vast area of issues concerning teachers not expanding their learning to expand the learning of their students.

Not every school has the resources necessary to take their students on an airplane . . . or spaceship tour. Having the iPad app can help these students and show them how things are inside and out. Fun app for the students. They have virtual sites for many historic places.

I think bringing ipads into the classroom and giving students a chance to see a virtual version of a famous museum or historical place is an amazing teaching too! Most students may never get to the actual place but that doesn't mean they should not get the chance to experience it, whether it be virtual world or not. It makes the information to students more interactive and they can connect history to the places they see online.

This short article researched the attitudes of teachers familiar with technology vs teachers who were not as familiar, and compared the attitudes of the two. As expected, those more familiar with technology had a better attitude towards integrating into the classroom. It was said the attitudes of teachers directly affected students'. 

Quickly create a new Google Doc. It's just a single click from your menu bar. I found this really cool because it's an easy way to access your google doc without going into your drive!

I love google docs and found this article taught me a few things that I did not know about it!

Does what its suppose to do. The extension is a good time saver for people who use google docs more often than everyone. I hate waiting for docs to load in order to create a new document.

Use the Hightlight extension to highlight important text on specific web pages in different colors! This would be extremely helpful in classrooms, especially when teaching students how to research and find important words and phrases in text!

This definitely seems like a useful tool, not only for teachers but for people who want to share certain parts of an article. I always feel like sharing certain parts of article or stories with friends is tricky to achieve online, but this seems like it would make it much easier, and the fact that there are multiple different colors to choose from makes it that much better

Google Chrome's extension One Tab can be helpful to not only teachers, but people who love to have multiple tabs open at one. This extension allows the user to compile their tabs into a single list clearing up their computer screen making it easier to navigate and sort through the multiple tabs they have open. One of the cool functions this extension performs is allowing a person to export and import their tab list as URLs. It can also allow one to create a webpage from their list of tabs. If a teacher had a bunch of websites they wanted their students to look at they could use this function to send it to them instead of simply listing each website individually. 

I found this post really interesting because this would be something I would definitely use! I get so confused when I have a million tabs open at once, I always click on all of them until I can find the right one. This extension would definitely benefit many students and teachers and keep their lives more organized!

Google Earth Pro is now free! After reading the comments it was a little confusing. It appears there is a licensing key which is GEPFREE (google earth pro) is my guess for the acronym. A facet acquired by obtaining the Pro version is also being able to record and share journeys which could be very useful for field trips or even if a teacher wanted to show what life looked like in another country to students. The videos Google Earth Pro is able to produce are mindboggling clear and vivid. The image is nearly flawless and all of it can be recorded and uploaded to Youtube if a teacher needed to pull it up quickly to show to the class. In the Pro version, you are also able to find out the voter turnout rate, where there are more Fair Trade farms, and if the population is higher in one city to the next. If you are having students conduct data gatherings, they can also import their results to Google Earth Pro to show them how the findings they obtain can be put to real world use. There is also traffic maps incorporated into this version which is a convenience to anyone I would like to say. If there was a property dispute in an old time non-fiction story, the students could look up to see who was right with the app. You can also look at how states looked thirty or forty years ago. And of course, you can still look at the universe. This was a very informative article written by Matthew Hughes.

"Big History Project" is a free course designed to target the common core standards we are trying to teach students today. The five main topics are broken down into 'thresholds' where students can enter, learn via text, videos, photoss, and assessments, and even earn badges as they complete tasks.

A brand new article, Technology changing the culture of the classroom is about as up to date on the benefits of technology as you can be. In the Southwest Allen County school district, they take technology very seriously. They have a 1:1 ratio of student to ipad. They also use assigned technology for 1:1 learning and allows students to work at their own, as well as letting them to use their own imaginations and minds to work through critical thinking.They digitize the entire process so that work can be done at school and at home. Digital literacy is becoming just as important a skill to learn as regular academia literacy.

This post talks about integrating relevant information into the use of technology in a classroom. I really like the readability extension they offer. Its nice to not be distracted by flashing ads when all you want to do is read an article on the internet. It is probably even tougher for high school students or younger to concentrate. It is a nice feature to keep them productive.

This is a great list to use as a resource for Chrome Extensions; not only does it give you 100 examples from simple to complex, they vary in use as well. I liked "Grammarly Lite," which spellchecks your grammar and spelling on the internet, super helpful for future teachers who would like to avoid looking unprofessional in an email when their proofreading simply was not on point that day. "Panic Button" is also good for parents (or teachers, if they prefer to keep their emails and such private), as it hides and locks whatever tabs are on your screen at the time with the click of a button.
