This article talks about Google Expeditions, which is a new technological tool being used in the classroom. Google has created this for students to be able to take virtual field trips. Many schools cannot afford to take their students on field trips but now they can without leaving the classroom. Teachers are able to pause throughout the tour and discuss with students what is happening or what they are seeing. As of right now this has been given to some schools free of charge. Overall, we can think of this as something like Google maps but ten times better!

I like that this article is very detailed in how to effectively use technology in the classroom. According to the article, technology incorporation should be seamless, second-nature. The way we use pen and paper today should be the way technology is used. We don't stop to think about how to use the pen and paper in a class; ideally, the same thing should be happening in blended classrooms.

This article outlines how the 6 essential science tools use technology in the classroom. The 6 tools are digital projectpr, document camera, livescribe SmartPen, student response system, pocket camcorders, and probeware. These tools allow for the students create instructional videos, demonstrate lab activities, take a "clicker test" used for quizzes and assessments, and record brainstorming sessions.  Overall, these technologies lead to differentiation in instructional methods for teacher and allows them to make effective assessments of the students.

I very much enjoyed this article because it challenges the idea of separate but equal in terms of education. Wealth should not determine the quality of one's education yet stories of underprivileged youth receiving little to no education within the poor cities and their dysfunctional school systems is all to common. It is often swept under the rug the amount of injustice and inequality served to poor and marginalized people in our society and i applaud this article for attacking the politics behind it.

Digital age learning is driven by two facets: the pedagogical side and the wires-and-lights-in-a-box side. But truth be told, you can't have one without the other. Schools must create a unified vision for their tech integration. They must use tools with a proven track record. Implementation should be widespread; across departments.

It explains the controversy involving politics and economics of students in the school system. It's referred to as a civil rights issue because of the flagrant educational gaps emerging within America specifically poor urban neighborhoods. "Big History Project" is a free course designed to target the common core standards we are trying to teach students today. The five main topics are broken down into 'thresholds' where students can enter, learn via text, videos, photoss, and assessments, and even earn badges as they complete tasks.

They believe that people, such as teachers and programs would be "silly" to not stay update with the new technological systems, because that is the way our future is learning and growing. This article outlines new improvements for teacher professional development, involving newer technology upgrades.  One key point of the article was the passing of the Enhancing Education Through Technology, or (EETT) state grant program, which includes a $650 million stimulus package to upgrade technology in classrooms across the country.  Funding is also provided to train the teachers to properly use the technology to its fullest capacity, this way educators can have confidence using these new tools.

Enhancing Missouri's Instructional Networked Teaching Strategies (eMINTS) is a program that aims to create classrooms where all students are motivated to succeed, build enthusiasm and creativity. eMINTS trained 3,500 teachers and 300 administrators since its formation in 1999. In the 21st century student will have a difficult time succeeding without technology. The article states "Technology integration in the end, is not really about technology, but rather the life skills it instills in students and teachers."

Math and Science students are now using the Madden NFL game for the classroom. Being a division 1 AA football player and now coach of the game, this learning tool is something I would definitely love to use in the classroom and for myself! Electronic Arts will work with NFL Players Association and Discovery Education on a program called EA Sports Madden NFL: Football By The Numbers. The program is for 5th and 9th graders to teach them Math and Science skills. The program will combine football concepts with math and science principles including physics and probability. Different opportunities will be accessible for the kids as well. Students can take field trips to EA Sports Tiburon studio in Orlando to watch the creation of the Madden NFL. NFL players are hopping on board too. NFL players will help promote the program and develop awareness of the learning opportunities. Being a fan of this game, this is very good news. Not only is it incredible that they are using it for academic reasons but I believe accessing knowledge for gaming creation will benefit the game in their future. Every Madden game gets more realistic each year, allowing children to gain greater knowledge of how this system works will increase the future endeavors for the company.
