YouTube Editor - 0 views

  •
This is YouTube's free video editing Web 2.0 program.  Students and teachers could use this to create and store online media for classes.  Many schools have Google accounts for their students that could be used to access the YouTube video editor as long as administrator provided the proper permissions.  This could also be a free alternative to programs districts must pay for like iMovie or WeVideo.

I know someone else already posted this, but it was such a great find (and I did not know it existed!!) that I had to bookmark it for myself. I am posting this for totally selfish reasons, and not for use with my students exclusively. Although, I am sure I could use this editor to enhance instructional videos, or my students could use it to enhance videos they may create as projects. Currently, I'm excited to use it for myself, for current class projects. =X

I really enjoyed looking more into Mrs. Nessman's blog. I am a huge fan of blogs and love to get new ideas. I feel some of the best ideas are ones in which we find from other teachers. She provides a lot of creative ideas in which I could modify to use within my own future classroom. Thanks for sharing!
  •
This is a really neat blog! I always enjoy reading about new and creative ideas that I could possibly use in my future classroom. Mrs. Nessman's blog is very impressive and creative! I could definitely see myself using this blog as a reference when I am a teacher. I have not encountered any other blog that is this innovative. I can see many teachers learning much from Mrs. Nessman. Good find, Nicole!

This blog is awesome, i really liked it and enjoyed it. this will be very useful for kids. this blog have been designed to meet specific reading aspects for grade 1 students. well done work.
  •
Thanks for sharing this blog. Although I am a Special Education teacher I still felt like their were a lot of ideas I could apply to my classroom. It's always fun to see what other educators out their are doing. This blog would be used primarily for teachers as its all about ideas in the classroom for instruction and projects. However you could use it to create a project choice list for you students to choose to complete so many by the end of the year.

VoiceThread - Conversations in the cloud - 0 views

  •
VoiceThread can be used in a variety of ways, educationally. Clearly, use by those in post-secondary education (as done in Technology in Education) is a fun way to enhance online courses. K-12 teachers can also use VoiceThread to present ideas for their classrooms and dialogue with other teachers. Or, teachers could ask their students to participate in "flat classroom" projects, using VoiceThread to do presentations for and get feedback from other students across the globe. A dynamic, multi-use collaboration tool for anyone involved in education at any level.

This is a website full of resources for educational purposes. Teachers can use this site to look for internet sources for collaboration, blogging, research, etc. There is a list of over 200 resources including a detailed explanation.
  •
This website has a very extensive list of free resources. It is nice to have the descriptions. There are so many resources available; I have never heard of many of them. This site would be a great resource for a teacher who wanted to use a specific type of technology but had no idea what was available. I will definitely go to this site time and time again.
  •
Wow-what a great link! This has a ton of ideas with descriptions for online projects. I will use this often for integrating technology into my curriculum.
  •
This website is awesome! There are so many different resources here that could be used for many many different projects. It has a great variety as well of what the different resources are used for and can do.

Wordle: Word Clouds - 0 views

This website creates word clouds and is often used to begin concept mapping or brainstorming. Students can list words that connect with each other and create a visual. Word clouds can be altered by size of the words, color, and shape.

I've always liked this site, but often forget about it. I think kids enjoy brainstorming and creating these. I think for World Languages it has great potential as kids often just need fun ways to practice and recall words! These are also fun to save and post on class blogs, wikis, etc.
  •
This is a great site for creating truly beautiful word clouds. It has some amazing implications for classroom use with both a traditional word cloud and some crazy uses I have seen on blogs and at conferences. It is specifically helpful in the classroom to help students see commonalities with text. I really believe that this resource is mostly for student use. They can create their own word clouds, screen shot them, and save them for projects in the future. It provides a simple, but elegant, workflow and space for students to create. The FAQ section also provides some nice work arounds and ideas as well. There are a few similar sites out there that have cropped up, but this one is really the granddaddy of them all and probably the best one too. When was the last time you made a word cloud?
  •
I really love this cite. It's a great way to create a project, poem, presentation, etc. in a unique way. This is a great resource for both students and teachers. Students can use it as an alternate way to complete an assignment and teachers as an alternate way to present instruction. I myself use it often for my words wall words of the week. Thanks for sharing Kelsey.
  •
Thank you Kelsey for posting this, I've seen these word clouds on websites and other places but didn't know how to make them. Now I don't have to look any further. I think this resource will be something that I could use in my classroom. It may be a tool used so students can see what words they use most in their writing or for a poetry unit. It is definitely something that I can see myself using for graphic works, either on a blog, yearbook page, or poster. This is something that I feel both students and teachers can use, but mostly students. I know there are similar sites out there, but not sure what they are.
  •
I love this cite to do word wall words and other things. I used it a great deal last year but had forgotten about it. It is not only a good resource for the teacher but the kids love it to. Thanks for refreshing my memory on this site.

Top Documentary Films - 3 views

  •
This blog lists top documentary films for teachers or students to watch. Teachers can use these documentaries as a means of providing more information to students. The documentaries may not be suitable for all ages.
  •
This site could have great potential, especially for high school science and social studies classes, based on the topics of the movies listed. It is great that you can watch the documentaries immediately and for free. Students might find this a useful resource for another type of research materials for projects. In my subject areas, I wouldn't use most of these, because we usually need to watch things in the target language, but some of the cultural topics might be relevant, such as some French speaking African countries, art, etc. I haven't ever thought to look for free documentaries online, I suppose there are more sites to check out!
  •
Wow, what a great site. This is something that I think can really come in handy. There are often times when I or my fellow teachers are looking for something to help expand understanding or make connections with something they are learning. There is a large variety of categories to pick from and not just science and social studies. I think this definitely is a site for teachers, but I could see students using this site too for school projects. I'm going to be passing this one onto my fellow teachers. Thanks Kelsey for a useful resource.

Create Surveys Here! - 0 views

This web 2.0 tool has multiple possibilities. Here's just a couple I've thought of: 1) your students are doing a research project and 2) you want to connect with your students and/or students' parents. Easy, efficient, and technology based.

Surveymonkey is a flexible, effective tool that can be used in a variety of settings. In addition to using it in the classroom and as a tool to reach out to parents, it could also be used administratively for research and strategic planning purposes.
  •
Surveymonkey is flexible, and easy to use. Although when using it for a kiosk station you need to pay for a subscription fee but worth all the hassle. Another substitution is google forms too.
  •
We have used Surveymonkey here at school, easy to build and deploy. Great tool.

Teaching With Wikis - 1 views

  •
This website is a helpful resource for teachers with topic such as: using wikis for the first time, using wikis for specific purposes, and how to introduce wikis to students. It is a site that would be perfect to look over to gain more information on the tool before you begin implementing it into the curriculum.
  •
This is a very useful site that can assist developers and teachers with incorporating wikis into courses. Practical and effective suggestions are detailed, with sample wiki projects effectively supplementing the strategies presented.
  •
This is an excellent resource for teachers who are planning to use wikis in their classroom. It has everything from how to use them to preparing students to use them. Great resource and one I would definitely use in the future.

Great resource for ideas and collaborating with other educators regarding the use of iPads in education through blogs, tips, discussions, and videos. Great job on your "QR Code Crime Scene" video you posted to the Ning!!! Excellent example of what is possible!! I joined the Ning and will share this with teachers using iPads in our school.
  •
Do agree or disagree that the resource can be used efficiently in your own future classroom? Explain why or why not. I agree that this resource could be used efficiently in my classroom. I have an iPad in my classroom and this website gives great ideas of apps to use. Do you believe the resource is mostly for teacher use, student use, or both? Explain your perceptions constructively. I believe the resource is mostly for teacher use but allows teachers to find apps for student use. Teachers can find resources, download them, and then allow students to use them. Are you aware of any simililar resources that should be considered? If so, what are those resources. Yes, I have also seen websites that provide lists of apps and have included them in my own library.
  •
This is a great resource and one that totally is worth checking out! This is for sure a tool that can be used in the classroom. It is chalked full of great ideas and awesome tools to use in the classroom. This is mainly a tool for teacher use, but it could also be a resource for students looking for a different way to complete a project. There are many different uses of such an amazing ning like this! There are some great other Nings out there, Facebook pages, groups on LMS sites like Schoology, and other websites out there that are similar. This one is unique because of the Ning platform for sure!
  •
iPad technology is a new teaching tool will be used by teachers in classrooms. if will be very beneficial for both teachers and students
  •
I thought this resource was great and thought provoking for the educator that has access to i pads in the classroom. Not only could educators use this source but parents as well. I also agree with Randon that it has student uses as well. I agree with Randon as well that many other resources and social media pages such as facebook and twitter are available, however the creation of this site gives a different navigational system to explore.
  •
This is a great resource for teachers and students in the classroom. The more resources that we have the greater the level of learning can be. Teachers and students will benefit for this resource. Thanks for sharing
