Blogs about teaching students with new tools.

This is the first time I have seen this blog. I believe this is a great way for educators to learn new ways to incorporate new tools into their classrooms. It seems to update often, and I plan on viewing this resource in the future, because of the interesting topics that are being blogged about.

I've been following this blog and I also follow her on twitter. She has some great ideas and I really enjoy reading her posts.

A blog about technology in the classroom from Britannica

This is Ann S. Michaelson's blog, Teaching English using web 2.0. In Ann's blog, she talks about incorporating Web 2.0 tools and applications with students in her International English class. There are great posts about how to use different applications, such as blogs and WebNote, as well as ideas for 1:1 classroom activities. As a future English teacher, I am always interested in learning new ways to use Web 2.0 in my classroom. In addition to presenting different tools, Ann also considers how to teach English as a second language.

I really like this blog. I really like her ideas about incorporating web 2.0 into an ESL classroom. Whether it be ESL or just a traditional English classroom, I think that using web 2.0 is a promising way to engage students in learning English.

I like the web 2.0 tools Michaelson introduced in her blog such as Webnotes, Timeline and he vocabulary builder VocabAhead. The webnotes is kind like a combination of google document, google reader and diigo.I think it's convenient for both teachers and students to get useful resources, organize and share them. Although the free version limit the functions, it is still worth trying. The timeline tools is a good one can be used in history course. Using timeline to display flow chart in powerpoint is also a good choice. I like VocabAhead best. It explains words by using image, voice and example sentence. Thus, it makes students much easier to understand a new word and know how to apply in real situation. I think it's a good tool can be used in English class. Thanks for sharing the blog to us.

Twitter is a social networking site. It can be very beneficial to educators if you follow colleagues and prominent figures in education. Twitter allows you to share articles and resources that are relevant to their interests and education. When you follow people who are in the education you can find lots of new valuable resources that are posted.

Dear Twitter Tweethearts! I have a twitter account and I love it! I follow celebrities mostly though just to get in on the good gossip. Just for this reason though, I don't think it should be used for schools. Perhaps at the collegiate level like I have done in some of my classes, but for high school or younger could possibly break out into bullying on the website towards a student and in some cases a teacher.

Twitter is a very popular social networking site that many businesses, celebrities, and peers use to interact with each other. I have often been told to use twitter in my classroom. However, I am hesitant about doing this. As Joe mentioned, I do not think I would want my students to get involved in twitter during school hours under my supervision. As with Facebook, I believe twitter has the potential to become more of a distraction than a positive. It could open up a window for cyber-bulling and gossiping. On the other hand, I can see that having a twitter account to keep in contact with parents could be beneficial.

Odds are pretty good that if you're talking about changes to teaching and learning that the new Read/Write Web is bringing about, many of the words you are using start with "C."

Digital Kindergarten is a blog that is about the use of technology with young children (kindergarten). She also blogs about her life as a teacher and a new mother.

Great Resource for math classes. This has interactive games for kids to play, and it also has videos for them to watch. It puts a new twist on some common math concepts. Great lesson ideas available for math teachers.

I definitely agree that this resource can be used efficiently in my own future classroom. I LOVE math, and enjoyed looking through this website. I liked how it included a teachers corner that gives teachers many ideas and tips on how to use the videos and games in a math lesson/unit. This resource is geared towards both students and teachers; the games and videos are mainly for students benefit, but the teachers corner is also a great resource for teachers. There are many other great websites that include interactive games and videos for teachers to use with their students (as well for students to practice on their own at home). Jim O'Loughlin's (of the UNI Department of Languages and Literatures) Electronic Literature class homepage. Electronic literature seems to combine technology with traditional literature and reading. This type of literature could be very revolutionary in terms of bringing new interactions into the reading experience. It also has the potential for use in a 1:1 classroom.

Tools teachers can use in their classroom - a very nice collection of applications and/or software for teachers. Although some of the applications are older Web2.0 tools, they still prove to be highly useful and effective in the classroom. Really cool aggregate resource site for tools you might need someday!

I think this is good app collection. I believe it is very useful because the site explain a little bit how to use the apps

Google+ is a social networking application that is relatively new and is gaining popularity. A major feature is circles. With circles Google+ allows the user to set friends into circles that have the same grouping such as Work & Teachers.

I am not sure if I would use this in a higher education environment. Students at that level use a lot of social networking already and I'm not sure this would be a benefit in the classroom.

This site shows you how to create podcasts for your classroom. Some suggestions this site gives for using podcasts are: weekly classroom news broadcast, document a field trip and, record a class discusson.

I think resource has great potential for use in a classroom. I would probably use it myself, as a teacher, to learn how to record my English class discussions, or to do posts on different authors or other topics and send them out to my students. It could also be a great tool to use for students, helping them consider taking a different angle on the typical project or presentation. We should consider multiple forms of expression, not just text, when using digital technology with students; listening can be so useful!

Podcasts are great ways to record classroom lectures in college. I would think it would be useful for staff and students. However, I have never listened to a podcast myself, so I don't know how well they meet the needs of a student. I'm also wondering if because of more availability of video recordings of classrooms that podcasts are diminishing.

Free math and science education/lessons/tutorials online.

This is a great tool for math and science teachers. It's a really good resource for kids to have when they are struggling with a concept. When it's uploaded as video they can chose their own pace by pausing the video. I myself have used YouTube videos like this to help me learn something new.

I have used this site myself to help with math tutoring and it really is a efficient tool to do some quick teaching.

Prezi is a great educational resource for students and teachers alike. Prezi gives a fun new spin on the traditional powerpoint. It also allows you to save your presentation online so you can log on and use it from any internet enabled computer.

A step-by-step video tutorial website. Great for familiarizing yourself with new programs or websites! UNI has just worked out a deal with the site, details are still in the air, but shortcuts to access all videos are on computers in all of UNI's labs!

A site funded by an educational endowment from Verizon, this website has some good professional development articles about how to adapt news into lessonplans, tips on creative lessons and twenty-first century skills, and a database of lesson plans searchable by subject ans age.

I'd never heard of this site before, thanks for sharing! One thing I found to be pretty neat, is the community discussions forum. Many controversial topics are being debated, such as: "Should schools continue to teach cursive writing?" It is important for teachers to keep their students' engaged and interested in their learning, but it is equally important for teachers to stay engaged.

Thank you for sharing this site. I went through some of the different lesson plans and I am excited to be able to use them sometime. I wish I would have known about this resource when I was trying to make lessons for my level twos. It had so many different ideas for lessons. I looked at one about the Gettysburg Address and it was a great and thought provoking lesson.

Symbaloo is your personal online desktop. Create links to all of your favorite websites, blogs, news, and other Web 2.0 applications on a single page. This can be used to create and centralize your professional learning network or personal learning environment.

This is a cool idea, its simple and clean. This would be a great tool to use to make your PLN. I have done a PLN with google but I did not like it and have not used but I could see my self and students using Symbaloo. I also see this as a tool for student with special needs. If a student who has problem with fine motor skills typing or a mouse would be hard but if they had a touch screen tablet or computer they could set this up and have their favorite sits at the touch of their fingers.

This source is a blog by Alexander Russo, who is a former teacher and freelance education writer. His blog is hosted by Scholastic.com and is considered on of the best education blogs. I would use this blog to keep myself updated on issues in education as a way to help me be the best teacher I can be.

I really enjoy finding sources that combine many ways to use technology. I think this was a great source. I am so glad that you added this link. It will be a great tool to use when I am thinking of ways to integrate technology into the classroom.

This blog focuses on digital writing, along with digital teaching. It shows how to integrate ideas and thoughts about digital writing into digital teaching.

I think it is a very good resources to help teachers and students. I think it will be very useful to introduce reading and writing in digital settings.
