This is a very good website for kids to go too! I know the girls I babysat this past summer loved going on here and playing the different games that went along with their favorite shows on tv.

Great Resource for math classes. This has interactive games for kids to play, and it also has videos for them to watch. It puts a new twist on some common math concepts. Great lesson ideas available for math teachers.

I definitely agree that this resource can be used efficiently in my own future classroom. I LOVE math, and enjoyed looking through this website. I liked how it included a teachers corner that gives teachers many ideas and tips on how to use the videos and games in a math lesson/unit. This resource is geared towards both students and teachers; the games and videos are mainly for students benefit, but the teachers corner is also a great resource for teachers. There are many other great websites that include interactive games and videos for teachers to use with their students (as well for students to practice on their own at home). Skype's education portal, which connects teachers to classrooms all over the world using Skype for students to interact.

This is a really good resource for teachers. Skype is a great resource in the classroom. The opportunities that Skype bring to the classroom are endless. I have used Skype for other uses but never in the classroom. Students are able to use this as a way to meet students from across the world.

I had never thought about using Skype in the classroom until now. This is a great resource for both students and teachers. You can even collaborate with other classes using this. This reminds me of the flat classroom project but with a lot more potential.

This website could be a great resource for students and teachers in science, math, history, language arts, etc. This site will allow students to create a fake page about a famous individual. This combines things students enjoy (Facebook) and school material. If you can create an appropriate and interactive project, it can be very enjoyable for students.

This looks like a great site Katie! I can definitely see myself using this in the future. I will be an ESL teacher, so it will be a good way to practice simple English phrases, as well as learning content. Thanks for sharing!

Jim O'Loughlin's (of the UNI Department of Languages and Literatures) Electronic Literature class homepage. Electronic literature seems to combine technology with traditional literature and reading. This type of literature could be very revolutionary in terms of bringing new interactions into the reading experience. It also has the potential for use in a 1:1 classroom.

A well known positive consequence of using a wiki, is the abundance of data that accumulates about a particular topic. This journal also suggests that wikis are useful for participatory and sociological reasons. Studies show that while wikis serve to benefit qualitative research, they also encourage rich interaction between users.

This article highlights some of the topics discussed during a virtual meeting (UNI - INSTTEC4131/5131) on 11/16/11.  "Rich Environments for Active Learning, or REALs, are comprehensive instructional systems that evolve from and are consistent with constructivist philosophies and theories. REALs provide learning activities that engage students in a continuous collaborative process of building and reshaping understanding as a natural consequence of their experiences and interactions within learning environments that authentically reflect the world around them."

Glogster is a graphical blog. Students can express themselves through words, music, film, and pictures on this site.

Fun wiki for students and teachers. It gives the students a chance to look at what other students are doing around the world in school including projects, activities, and school lives. It is a great way to connect with others in a controlled environment

Before this site I had never even heard of a Glog, but after this site I find them to be very interesting and useful. The variety of information on this site is so vast and with so many participants from so many locations the content is great. This would be a great project for a classroom to participate in, through Glogs, which would be fun and educational at the same time for students. They could create their own or browse others for a quality yet interactive lesson. I will add it to the "someday I want to use this in my classroom" list. Thanks for sharing.

Twitter is a social networking site. It can be very beneficial to educators if you follow colleagues and prominent figures in education. Twitter allows you to share articles and resources that are relevant to their interests and education. When you follow people who are in the education you can find lots of new valuable resources that are posted.

Dear Twitter Tweethearts! I have a twitter account and I love it! I follow celebrities mostly though just to get in on the good gossip. Just for this reason though, I don't think it should be used for schools. Perhaps at the collegiate level like I have done in some of my classes, but for high school or younger could possibly break out into bullying on the website towards a student and in some cases a teacher.

Twitter is a very popular social networking site that many businesses, celebrities, and peers use to interact with each other. I have often been told to use twitter in my classroom. However, I am hesitant about doing this. As Joe mentioned, I do not think I would want my students to get involved in twitter during school hours under my supervision. As with Facebook, I believe twitter has the potential to become more of a distraction than a positive. It could open up a window for cyber-bulling and gossiping. On the other hand, I can see that having a twitter account to keep in contact with parents could be beneficial.

Spicynodes is a web 2.0 application that is designed for creating mindmaps. This site is a very interactive way map out information. You are also able to save your mindmaps to your account so that you can come back to them. It reminds me of Prezi with a different twist.

I really like this site Mikael. It reminds me of the Inspiration software - but free! This would be great for schools to use who do not purchase that software. Mindmaps are a great organizational tool both for students and teachers, I can definitely see myself using this source in the future.

Free math and science education/lessons/tutorials online.

This is a great tool for math and science teachers. It's a really good resource for kids to have when they are struggling with a concept. When it's uploaded as video they can chose their own pace by pausing the video. I myself have used YouTube videos like this to help me learn something new.

I have used this site myself to help with math tutoring and it really is a efficient tool to do some quick teaching.
