MathsClass is about teaching and learning in a maths classroom.When I first started this blog (2007), my intention was to write about using technology in the maths classroom. However, using technology in the classroom wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. This blog shifted focus to being more generally about teaching in the maths classroom.This site will be a place for gathering ideas, sharing what works and listening to the experiences of others (i.e. you, feel free to comment).

Mathematical Moments are 8.5" x 11" pdfs, available on many different topics in science, nature,technology, and human culture. Some have been translated into other languages, and some feature podcast interviews withexperts in the field. Use the pulldown lists below to select the Mathematical Moment you're looking for.

This site looks to have many useful applications that could be used in the classroom if iphones or ipod touches were available to use. Number Line and Fraction Factory could be great applications to use in a Year 8 class. To help reiterate fractions, percentages and decimals.

A quality maths activity using a video of Usain Bolt

In this activity you will be analyzing the world record run from Usain Bolt in the 2009 Track and Field Championships.

MTSonline is a database of 3000 mathematics activities for 5-13 year olds and is linked to all mathematics curriculums in Australia.

Great resource because the teacher notes have links to other internet sites. Good for kids working at stage 2 and 3. All worksheets are in PDF so can be used in powerpoints
