Learning effectiveness of applying automated music composition software in the high grades of elementary school - 0 views

  • The paper is mainly to explore the automated music composition experiences for the students in the high grades of elementary school who are unfamiliar with the professional music theory. The proposed Automated Composition for Music Education (ACME) software was developed to help the students to compose the rhythm and melody themselves, while chord configuration and arrangement are automatically generated.
  • Finally the students in the experimental group using the ACME teaching materials showed a better learning effectiveness at both reaction level and learning level, than those of the students in the comparison group

I played the maths challenge Dragonbox, and was just going to spend a few minutes on this game but I found it fun to keep going and work out how to continue with the problems when I got stuck, until I understood the concept that the challenge was teaching. In a way I was trying to be creative in solving these problems along the way and was learning as well. This idea could be carried on outside the came creating my own idea of Algebra using everyday items. I think that when learning is taking place creativity and innovation are not far behind. Voki Home (creating Speaking Avatars) - 1 views

Children can create their own customised Avatar - simple activity with loads of potential.
  •
I think that this is a great idea for children and teenagers. By allowing students to create an Avatar, it gives them the opportunity to create an image that represents them or they can go completely crazy and create something far from the truth. Giving them an avatar in an educational environment then makes the learning fun and enjoyable as they feel they are playing just one big game. I have used this concept in a Contact Centre with Adults and have had success with it, purely for the reason it allows creativity and staff did not need to leave their desks to go to training.

It's not just the tool, but the educational rationale that counts - 0 views

  • will the technological tail be allowed to wiggle the educational dog or will it be the other way around
  • Education is far too important to society to be wiggled by a technological tail. Let technology show us what can be done, and let educational considerations determine what will be done in actuality
  • The first factor, the Technological Paradox, results from the consistent tendency of the educational system to preserve itself and its practices by the assimilation of new technologies into existing instructional practices. Technology becomes "domesticated", which really means, that it is allowed to do precisely that which fits into the prevailing educational philosophy of cultural transmission.
