Two prominent historians, Norman Davies and Timothy Snyder, were hosted at the Batory Foundation in Warsaw on Thursday, 28 November. The discussion was moderated by Aleksander Smolar, director of the Foundation's board. The full house included prominent historians, directors of institutions and programmes in Warsaw, Toruń and Radom, researchers including Jan Kieniewicz, the University of Warsaw historian and author of books on Europe and Asia, and members of the press.

The Smithsonian Institution houses an extraordinary array of Civil War artifacts in nearly a dozen of its museums and archives.

Since the invention of photography in 1839, libraries, museums, research institutes, and academic departments at Harvard and Radcliffe have created and collected photographs for use in research and instruction. Among these millions of images are more than 3,500 daguerreotypes, the first publicly-announced photographic process

Collection of letters from American Wars.

This online exhibition of letters and audio, created by the Gilder Lehrman Institute and the Legacy Project, features correspondence from over 200 years of American conflicts, ranging from the Revolution to the war in Iraq. This exhibition uses the words of famous generals and lesser-known troops, as well as parents, sweethearts, and children, to explore such themes as leaving home, life in the military, the pride and worries of those left behind, and ultimate sacrifice.

This site has a collection of "60,000 documents detailing the political and social history of the United States". Seems well organised; run by the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History.

Digital Past is a digitization initiative undertaken by libraries, historical societies, museums, and other cultural venues throughout Illinois in partnership with the North Suburban Library System (NSLS) in Wheeling, Illinois. It began in 1998 with a grant from the Illinois State Library and has become a popular resource for researchers of all ages and interests including schoolchildren, genealogists, historians, authors, producers, and special interest groups. Digital Past contains collections from over 40 institutions of varying topics and formats including over 136,000+ records.

Vincent Van Gogh's 902 letters from and to him, now available online freely. The letters are translated into English and richly annotated and illustrated with new transcriptions and translations edited by Leo Jansen, Hans Luijten and Nienke Bakker for the Vincent Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam and the Huyghens Institute - KNAW.

Not quite sure why the "California Institute for Ancient Studies' has German on the homepage. Not great quality but if it's Bronze Age I usually bookmark it regardless - there's not much on that era.

YouTube is initially applying the captioning technology only to a few channels, most of them specializing in educational content.
