A cute site that is perfect for engaging students in history! You open a virtual fortune cookie and it gives you a silly fortune that relates to something that happened in history! It's powered by Footnote so we know it's good!

Seems to focus mainly on contemporary human rights although there will be reference to historical conflicts and human rights breaches, I guess. Has links to over 4000 other sites and there are bound to be some useful sources in there.

I highly recommend this site. Today in class we worked with the Nathaniel Bacon Case and on Monday will look at the Anthony Johnson case on slavery. I wish there were more options to integrate into my AP course.

This isn't strictly speaking a site with resources usable for historical teaching and research, however it has a great breakdown of why historians use primary sources and how we use them etc and this might be useful with your classes.

Historical atlas with 4000 year map animation - 0 views

  •
I've found this animated atlas useful for when I'm introducing a new unit to show the students the "grand sweep" of history. It's Euroasian-centric and some of the details are wrong, but the students seem to benefit from such a visual display.
