The Project supports the full and prompt release of historical materials by governments on all sides of the Cold War, and seeks to accelerate the process of integrating new sources, materials and perspectives from the former "Communist bloc" with the historiography of the Cold War which has been written over the past few decades largely by Western scholars reliant on Western archival sources. It also seeks to transcend barriers of language, geography, and regional specialization to create new links among scholars interested in Cold War history.

How cool! The New York Times is putting historical issues of their paper online. They are still in the process of digitising them, but they already have the Civil War and some early C20th stuff on there.

Visualising China- Archive of 8000 photographs from China's history

I'm not sure how useful people will find this, however some might use it so I've included it. It contains translations of coins and seals from the Byzantine Empire organised around historical personalities and topics.

This edition completes the inclusion of published archival material from the monasteries of Mt Athos, and that relating to Nea Mone (Chios). It adds basic treatment of Byzantine Italy till the capture of Bari (1071). There has been considerable tidying throughout, but especially at the beginning and end, a process which will continue in the next edition (2007.1). The main emphasis of that edition will be on seals.

Has some very large files containing images and documents related to medical history in the US in C19th and C20th.

This is a collection of sources and archive material maintained by the American Institute of Physics "to preserve and make known the historical record of modern physics and allied sciences". How inter-disciplinary!

I'd already saved this but it's such a good source for primary images that I've updated the tags and re-saved it. Flickr contains a surprisingly vast collection of historically relevant images and I'd recommend it for classroom resource design or student research. I guess, like with all user-generated content, there will be issues with the legitimacy and authenticity of some of the images however there are still many reliable photosets I've found which would be useful for a history teacher.

This wiki is run by the American Historical Association and is a clearinghouse of archival material. I have no idea what that means but the site seems to have links to some primary sources which is a cool thing.
