Some key training initiatives in cyber security, big data, analytics, mobile, etc. IBM's recent report "found that only 1 in 10 organizations has the skills needed to effectively apply advanced technologies such as business analytics, mobile computing, cloud computing and social business."

I see similarity in what CEEO is trying to achieve with MIT's Scratch project. Emphasis on creativity, learning from others, reflecting on process. Figuring how to assess its performance remain as an issue here as well. 

The Univ of Pittsburg is becoming an ed tech incubator.  They're starting with two products:  SWord a cloud-based peer review program and CE Agent a smart phone app that manages nurses' continuing ed credits.

This plays off of the Disrupting Higher Ed discussion we had in class this week--talks about how college programs / classes are changing to be more "idea" based and how colleges are adapting to students who have been immersed in technology.

A brief overview of 10 different schools/school districts that have implemented BYOD programs. A good starting point for those who want to explore what BYOD looks like in different schools, as well as the different ways each school uses such programs.

The MIND Research Institute has developed software & games to teach math without use of language. Language is thought to be a barrier to math for many students.

Taking the math out of language provides access for students who have linguistic barriers to learning.

This is great! I'm very curious to see how this is being used, what types of conversations are being asked, and how and if this turns into longer term mentorships. Our team for Innovation be Design class is looking to create something like this for high school girls already engaged in STEM...so we are looking at the step right before this so making sure that the "interested" girls actually major in STEM fields.

Interesting stance from the UK, where the government hopes to raise up the importance of computer science in education, where ICT (information and communication technology) lessons are not up to date with the needs and skills of the 21st century. Kids engaged in ICT classes learn how to use software, and not how software works or how it's created. Interesting program to look into called "Kids College." A video game laced with reading/math assessments.

An example of how online classroom is running. The controversy continues. The argument seems to be not whether we have online learning or not, rather it is about how online learning programs could work, what an online course might look like and how students can learn best.

This is a program developed at WPI out in Worcester. It allows teachers to load in questions and create assessments. Pretty useful.
