I actually love this idea; it makes the president as an authority figure somewhat more accessible to kids and as long as his message sticks to the importance of school, I think it will be beneficial, especially to minorities. I can't remember the president ever addressing me directly as a student! Guess I was a little young to remember the first Bush's address..

Obama will address students in their classrooms via TV broadcast on the first day of school; controversy is naturally sparked.

Obama should put more money into educational technology. This seems like a very one sided and simplistic view of how technology can be used to improve education. Only at the end of the article do you realize that the author is selling something: he's an officer at a company that works with educational technology

Arnie Duncan, Education Secretary, and Julius Genachowski, FCC Chairman, setting up an ambitious plan to get digital textbooks in schools within five years. This requires ccollaboration among the Government, business, and educators.

A letter to President Obama about MOOCs and higher education, from his council of advisors on science and technology. This was released just a couple of days ago and highlights some of the potential benefits and current issues in the ongoing MOOC debate which we have all discussed. "Although the new technologies introduced by MOOCs are still in their infancy, and many questions and challenges remain, we believe that they hold the possibility of transforming education at all levels by providing better metrics for educational outcomes, and better alignment of incentives for innovation in pedagogy."

Looks like the white house is already seeing the value of educational games. But as we have read and seen, is it the right kind of games and will it be implemented correctly?
