More than half of people (52%) do not feel confident in treating backache and less than half (44%) uses community pharmacists' advice as their first step on
self-treatable conditions, a self-care attitudes 2022 survey has revealed.
PAGB, the consumer healthcare association, surveyed over 2,000 adults across the UK about their attitudes towards self-care and access to health services.
According to the survey, the public is in favour of self-care but many people lack the confidence and knowledge to care for the most common self-treatable conditions
including backaches, headaches, diarrhoea and constipation.
Four in five respondents (79%) said that people should take more responsibility for their own health and three-quarters (73%) believe that the NHS should make
self-treatment easier.
Behaviours around the current use of pharmacy varied - with less than half (44%) using community pharmacists as their first step in in getting advice on
self-treatable conditions - but longer term attitudes were encouraging, with 69% supporting the idea of GPs being able to make referrals to pharmacists.
Respondents also supported expanding the role of pharmacists so that their skills can be better utilised.
Tricycle FOr Disabled People
People with disabilities have often been excluded from mobility and access opportunities. Certainly, our public transport system has some way to go before it is even close to being accessible to everyone. With cycling for people with disabilities becoming one of the fastest-growing areas of interest in the cycling world, it is likely that cycling with its versatile simplicity and low running costs will succeed in providing access where other forms of transport have failed. Small-scale manufacturers are combining innovation with positive attitude and designing cycles that meet abilities.
"Most of the people who depend on these tricycles are daily wage workers who have to travel long distances every day. The regular tricycles have no suspension and the riders are prone to spinal injuries. Most of them also cannot afford good medical care, and driving these tricycles for a long time affects their back," he added.
We have several bicycles for people who have a problem with cycling. We produce special bicycles, tricycles, tricycles for children, adult tricycles, tandems, side by side bikes, wheelchair bikes, wheelchair transport bikes, a walking aid and a bicycle for the transport of 8 children.

Stability
The stability of the tricycle is very important for the safety of the user. This can be achieved by making the wheelbase wide enough and the center of gravity as low as possible but limited by the space needed for the legs of the user.
Driving comfort
The correct position of the propulsion handles is necessary for easy and comfortable driving.

If you are one of the unlucky few who require serious knee surgery, you will likely want to do everything possible to ensure a successful recovery. Knee
surgeries can be difficult and frustrating, but with the right attitude and approach, you can make the process much easier on yourself. In this blog post, we will
discuss six tips for recovering from serious knee surgery. Follow these tips and you will be on your way to a successful recovery!
1) FOLLOW YOUR DOCTOR'S ORDERS
This may seem like an obvious tip, but it is important to follow your doctor's orders after knee surgery. Your doctor knows what is best for you and your recovery,
so make sure to listen to their advice. Also, you can find useful information on the St Vincent's Private Hospitals website regarding your specific type of surgery.
It is important to get well informed about your surgery so that you can be prepared for the recovery process. For example, if you are having a partial knee
replacement, you will want to know what activities you should avoid during your recovery. Or, if you are having a full knee replacement, you will want to know what
kind of rehabilitation exercises you should be doing.
2) GET PLENTY OF REST
Your body needs time to heal after surgery, so make sure to get plenty of rest. This doesn't mean that you have to stay in bed all day, but you should avoid any
strenuous activity. Take naps when you feel tired and give your body the time it needs to recover.
The Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) has launched a new campaign to help parents and carers in pharmacy get the support they need in the workplace as part of
its inclusion and diversity work.
"A lack of flexibility in employment can mean work life balance is hard to keep, ramping up the pressure even more," said RPS.
The society wants to lift some of the burdens on parents and carers and challenge barriers to inclusion in the workplace.
It'll challenge negative attitudes to parents and carers through a brand new guide to the microaggressions you experience in the workplace. Drop in ABCD meeting at
7pm on 05 October to contribute your ideas.
It wants pharmacists to be able to choose flexible working whenever they need it. Join RPS's livestream across all its social media channels at 6.30pm on Weds 26

The General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) has initiated the evaluation of its five-year strategy for changing the way it manage concerns about pharmacy
professionals. It has urged people to share their experience of fitness to practice.
The evaluation will look at how the strategy has improved the experience of people involved in fitness to practice (those who raise concerns, professionals,
witnesses etc.); impacted the culture amongst pharmacy professionals and their attitudes to openness and honesty; improved the process and made it fairer and
changed perceptions of fitness to practice.
The first phase of the evaluation process will take place from July to September 2023.
The council said: "We are committed to making our ambitions a reality for the benefit of everyone involved and your contribution will help us to make sure patients
and the public continue to be protected while being fair to pharmacy professionals."
In June 2021, GPhC published its five-year strategy- Managing concerns about pharmacy professionals: Guided by its 2030 vision and commitment to equality, diversity
and inclusion, the strategy outlines a programme for change.
Community pharmacies are located within the very hotspots of peoples' communities, yet a staggering 720 individual businesses have stopped trading since 2015.
It has been called a "national disgrace and a betrayal to the elderly and the vulnerable" by sector leaders.
The funding crisis has been compounded by a gruelling 18-24 months post-Covid, both have which have placed immense pressure on the retail pharmacy sector.
The population is aging and with this comes patients living with a range of long-term health conditions. Medication regimes are becoming ever more complex and as a
result, maintaining prescription and medication adherence services is challenging to say the least.
Yet the public feel great warmth towards their local pharmacy businesses, and this positive attitude only increased during the pandemic. In fact, in a recent report
launched by Omnicell on the Changing Role of the Pharmacist, a survey of public opinion found that a third (32 per cent) said they perception of their local
pharmacy had changed for the better since the start of the pandemic and nearly half (44 per cent) said they are more familiar with their local pharmacy services
since the start of COVID.
This has meant that the role of the pharmacist has also changed and evolved; in part due to a national need and drive for more patients to be seen and supported
clinically by pharmacists.
This change of service provider role has slowly been developing over the last couple of years. Pharmacists are currently carrying out 65 million consultations
a year - a staggering rise of 44 per cent in the last 24 months alone.
NHS England and NHS Improvement (NHSE&I), in association with the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) and the Association of Pharmacy Technicians UK (APTUK),
has published its first inclusive pharmacy practice (IPP) bulletin, with an overarching ambition "to make community pharmacy a more inclusive environment for all
pharmacy professionals".
The IPP programme will take practical steps to improve the awareness and understanding at all levels of different cultural beliefs and attitudes, according to the
Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee (PSNC).
As a member of the IPP Improving Practice and Engagement Group, PSNC has contributed to this issue of the Bulletin, which focuses on how pharmacy professionals can
help to reduce health inequalities via the detection and prevention of cardiovascular diseases.
The IPP programme, of which the Bulletin forms a part, aims to engage with local communities to help improve their health and reduce inequalities in care -
particularly among those from ethnically diverse and disadvantaged backgrounds.
Nexium Control, the UK's number one selling heartburn product for 24-hour protection1, has commissioned research to explore consumer attitudes to heartburn
awareness of the different products on the market in Great Britain and Ireland (1,500 UK and 500 IE respondents). The research found that 53% of respondents
usually opt for short-acting treatments to heartburn2, despite longer-acting products being able to provide relief over a 24-hour period.
The research from Nexium Control revealed that 54% of people surveyed wished there was a product that managed symptoms for longer3, with 55% of respondents
agreeing that short-acting treatments only last a maximum of five hours4. To help their patients understand there are longer-acting options available,
pharmacists can provide information and guidance on treatments, such as proton pump inhibitors like Nexium Control.
Shorter-acting products, which shoppers often reach for, work by either neutralising the acid already in the stomach or by forming a layer that floats to the
top of the stomach, stopping acid rising into the food pipe. Double action treatments which utilise both methods are also available. Containing esomeprazole,
Nexium Control reduces the production of stomach acid for up to 24-hour protection with just one pill, treating the cause and symptoms of heartburn - allowing
time for the oesophagus to recover from the acid irritation.
A recent survey conducted by the British Society Attitudes (BSA) and published by the King's Fund and the Nuffield Trust highlighted people's satisfaction
with the National Health Services (NHS) to be a new record low since the survey's inception in 1983.
The latest findings that are based on the public satisfaction and opinion with the NHS and social care, and funding in the context of prominent national debate
about taxation and healthcare spending reveal the satisfaction with the NHS to have dwindled across all services and demographics in 2023.
Public contentment has sharply declined, with only 24 per cent expressing satisfaction in 2023, a significant drop from 2020.
Factors contributing to this dissatisfaction include prolonged waiting times for GP and hospital appointments, staffing shortages, and perceived inadequate
government spending.
