Well Pharmacy UK offering free flu vaccinations - 0 views

  •
Well Pharmacy, one of the UK's leading independent pharmacy chains, has been offering flu vaccinations for free. The chain says it is concerned as the winter flu season is now in full force, with hospital admissions reaching a peak and flu stats higher than they have been in recent years. Recent data shared by NHS England showed that there was an increase in flu cases by nearly 70 per cent leaving many in hospital each week. Well Pharmacy is worried about those who have yet to have the flu jab and has been urging people to get one for free. It recognises that only children aged 2-11, people over 50, and those with certain medical conditions are eligible for free NHS jabs, leaving millions who would normally have to pay for a flu vaccination which usually costs £15. Research recently undertaken by the chain shows that a quarter of people (25 per cent) think that after so many Covid-19 jabs in the last few years, 'vaccine fatigue' has led to a perceived lack of motivation in others to get their jabs.

Well Pharmacy:Immunosuppressed patients get Covid boosters - 0 views

  •
Well Pharmacy is urging those eligible to take up the offer of a further Covid booster jab this spring. Adults aged 75 years and over and anyone over 5 years old and are immunosuppressed - such as those who are undergoing chemotherapy or have had an organ transplant - are entitled to have a further Covid booster jab from mid-April, said one of the UK's largest community pharmacy chains. Taking part in the vaccination programme again, Well Pharmacy is encouraging people to book another booster as soon as they are contacted by the NHS - which should be at least six months after their previous booster. The national booking site for those eligible opens this week. The jabs have been updated since the vaccines were introduced to now target newer strains of Covid-19, Well said in a press release issued on Wednesday, 5 April. Thousands of people are still testing positive for Covid each week according to Government data, and - while hospitalisations are down - a large number of people are still being hospitalised with Covid, so getting jabbed is as important as ever. And the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) recently confirmed that hospital admissions last autumn highlighted that the risk of becoming seriously ill from coronavirus was noticeably higher in people over 75.

The association highlighted issues in the workplace that impact pharmacists' health and well-being, including chronic understaffing, sub-standard working environments, an absence of protected training time, and experiences of racism, violence, and abuse. •
In a significant move to enhance the working conditions of over 50,000 postgraduate doctors in the National Health Service, NHS England has unveiled a series of measures aimed at providing greater choice and opportunities to the new entrants in the medical profession. With flexible rotas, reducing payroll errors, and easing the financial burden of course fees, the NHS has taken steps to address the issues faced by junior doctors in order to support their well-being. In recent announcement, 83 per cent of senior doctors and dentists accepted the government's pay offer. Alongside the junior doctors who still fighting for fair pay and recognition, the senior medical professionals demanded that the authorities help them tackle issues pertaining underfunding and overworking in the NHS. Junior doctors in training also often face challenges with frequent moves between trusts, leading to short notice changes in work schedules and duplicated inductions when transitioning to new hospitals. As a measure taken by the health serivces, the committee aims to review the minimum legal requirements for statutory and mandatory training, potentially halving the time burden for such training and allowing doctors to spend more time caring for patients as part of the long-term workforce plan.

7 Side Effects of Apple Cider Vinegar |Healthy Living - 0 views

  •
Apple cider vinegar, a fermented drink made using crushed apples is considered a wholesome beverage by many wellness enthusiasts. Sure enough, it possesses copious nutrients like B vitamins, vitamin C, acetic acid, phosphorous, sodium, iron, calcium, and magnesium that work together towards enhancing overall physical salubriousness. However, despite its remarkable health-boosting benefits, its over consumption can also lead to a number of side-effects that can have a detrimental effect on your wellbeing. Here are seven such apple cider vinegar side effects: 1. Erosion of Tooth Enamel: Apple cider vinegar is considered a great home remedy for teeth whitening, but using it excessively for that purpose can backfire. The acetic acid contained in apple cider vinegar makes the teeth susceptible to erosion, easy decay, enhanced sensitivity and gum problems like bleeding and itching. If you want to make use of ACV, without damaging your pearly whites, it is advisable to dilute it in water before rinsing your mouth with it. 2. Stomach Irritation: Here's another one of apple vinegar side effects. Drinking ACV on a daily basis can trigger stomach irritation by resulting in acidity and corroding stomach lining, research conducted by the University of Arkansas's Department of Human Environmental Science reports. It can also cause other digestive problems like nausea and heartburn. If you are susceptible to gastrointestinal problems, exercise caution before including apple cider vinegar in your diet.
