Dr. Gokhale and his team successfully performed the First Lung Transplantation in Andhra Pradesh at Yashoda Hospitals, Secunderabad, taking the medical facilities at Hyderabad one more step forward. Besides Yashoda Hospitals, there is only one center in India where such facilities for both lung and heart transplantations are available under one roof. Cardiothoracic surgery team at Yashoda Hospitals, Secunderabad, headed by Dr A.G.K. Gokhale, Chief Cardiothoracic, Transplant and Minimal Access Heart Surgeon and Dr G. Subramanyam, Senior consultant Anesthetist, transplanted a lung on 8th of September, 2012, for a 34 years old Mrs. Archana from Pune , making her breathe comfortably again after a long time.

Osmania General Hospital, Dept of Cardiology, HOD Dr YV Subba Reddy invited Dr AGK Gokhale for Academic Program to deliver a lecture on "Management - Bridge to Transplant and Heart Transplantation Surgery" of their Faculty, DM Student and PG Students. 

The hospital is planning to perform the first heart transplantation early next year. "We will do routine cardiac surgeries for a while. We have to do the regular job before taking up transplantations. A team will visit Australia for two weeks to study the practice there," Dr Gokhale G.K. Alla, a consultant cardiothoracic and vascular surgeon.

Dr AGK Gokhale at Yashoda Hospital performed AP's first successful lung transplant surgery to give a 34-year-old woman a second shot at life. On a positive note, for a woman who had just a few weeks to live, she now has an increased life expectancy

Dr Gokhale delivered a lecture on" Surgical Options for Heart Failure in Indian Scenario". He pointed out that in India, as the incidence of Diabetes, Hypertension and heart diseases are increasing, Heart Failure has become a very common clinical problem.

The main idea of the program is  "How to Live Healthy and Happy" and to make people aware of the heart diseases.

What is the role of a cornea? Cornea is a clear tissue that covers and protects the front part of your eyes. So when light passes through your eyes, it first enters the cornea, then pupil and then the lens. This is the reason why cornea must remain clear and devoid of any infections.

Vision is not only important for human beings but for each and every living species on this earth. As a human, to live a life as self dependent manner vision is first need. But this need is significantly affected by the components like age, infections and diseases.

About 50 doctors from Cardiology, Cardiothoracic Surgery and General Medicine specialties participated in the program and discussed and exchanged their view for the enhancement of heart transplantation program in Andhra Pradesh and Ventricular Assist Devices (VAD) implantation
