How This Influenced My Thinking: This influenced my thinking by providing me with insight on how other cultures operate and what they feel is important. It was interesting to compare and contrast what we in the US value as intelligence with what other cultures value. Credibility of Source: very credible

It also gives a great example of a 75 year man who tries to maximize his cognitive resources. Further more, it breaks down the word 'selective optimization with compensation' and tells you what each word implies on its own, and how all the words as a whole make up the meaning of the theory. How this influenced my thinking: This influenced my thinking by providing me with a great example of SOC in a way that really helped my understanding of it. The idea of SOC makes perfect sense and i can see why psychologists use it when they are talking about successful aging. Credibility of source: I feel like the site was pretty credible. There were references but it was a wiki page

Grey hair, wrinkles, eye damage, and ear damage are all discussed on her webpage. As well as menopause changes and what a woman can expect as she nears the age of fifty. how this influenced my thinking: This website told me a bit about what to expect during the aging process. It also delved into internal bodily changes like changes in digestion, organs, skeletal system, etc. credibility: I didnt see a citations, but shes a health contributor

This give my paper some depth and intertwined different view points. how this influenced me- i wasn't really influenced by this site because it didn't add anything that i hadn't heard before. It might influence a person more if they are not as familiar with religion, specifically Christianity, as i was. credibility-the site seems pretty credible. It is a .org website, and was written by someone with a PHD in his area of study.

It discusses the 3 subtypes of adhd that i didnt even know existed. And it tells you what it used to treat it. how it influenced my thinking- This site influenced my thinking on what adhd is because before, i thought it was a straight forward disorder that people took medication for. But after visiting this site, i realized that there are different types, and it affects people differently. Not everyone is medicated for it, and many people go through life undiagnosed. credibility of source- credible since its a government website

It not only provides you with a definition of each term, but also gives you information on Vygotsky, and provides you with sample learning scenarios that help you to better understand his theory. how this influenced my thinking- This webpage gave me insight on what are good ways of teaching someone a new task. It helped me to better understand why a child would have trouble learning a new task, and what can be done to help them achieve their goal. credibility of source- credible with many sources

How this influenced my thinking- This influenced my thinking by allowing me to see how crucial of a role attachment plays in the development of children.     Title- Piaget's theory of cognitive development author- Many published- 2012 why relevant- This webpage talks about Piaget's theory, assimilation and accommodation, and breaks down all the motor stages. how influenced-Although i did view other websites to learn more about Piaget's theory of development. I felt that wiki broke it down in a way that not many other sites did. I was able to see what was going on in each stage of development, and it even went further into explaining the substages and what they encompass. credibility of source- I checked what wiki was telling me against other, more credible websites so i feel that the info i got was credible, even if the site itself has a bad rep for being credible :)

It also talked about why co-sleeping is beneficial, what cultures favor it, and even provided a few statistics of the benefits of co-sleeping, and how common it is in the United States. How This Influenced My Thinking: This website didn't influence my thinking much because it spoke very highly of co-sleeping and i am already an advocate of it. Credibility of Source: The site seems credible because the information was backed with references.

It is relevant to "child birth and culture" because it goes over different methods of birth that not only American cultures use, but other cultures as well. There is a lot of interesting information that is provided in the website and it's also very insightful. author: Baby zone editors Date published: ND How this influenced my thinking: This article really opened my eyes to various types of child birth and the pros and cons that each one has. I had never really considered any other type of birth besides medicated birth in a hospital, but it was very interesting to read about the benefits of water birth. Credibility of source: The source seems to be credible. It was written by the editors of Disney.

Not only does it take you through each stage of development and tell you what is happening, but it also discusses prenatal care. Pictures and diagrams are drawn to help you better understand what the site is discussing. It also describes some congenital and maternal derived abnormalities as well. How This Influenced My Thinking: This influenced my thinking by helping me understand what exactly goes on during each stage of pregnancy. I also never knew that abnormalities could be congenital or maternally derived so that was also interesting. Credibility of Source: The source has many citations and is from the encyclopedia of children's health so i assume its pretty credible

As well as stating what the theory is, the site also goes over in detail, all the different systems associated with Bronfenbrenner's ecological theory. There is also an illustration with various terms that provides links to sites that explain the implications of each theory. How it influenced my thinking: This site influenced my thinking in a positive way because it broke down what each system was, what it entailed, and gave examples of what was being discussed. Credibility of source: The source is very credible and is riddled with citations and works cited pages. The link to it also ends in usd.edu which means it is probably a site made by colleges for colleges.

It goes over dominant and recessive genes, what alleles are, phenotypes, genotypes and much more. It provides you with examples and definitions of words, and walks you through how to determine if a trait is dominant or recessive. How it influenced my thinking: It influenced my thinking by helping me see the difference between things like phenotypes and genotypes, as well as providing pictures and diagrams to further help with my understanding. Credibility of source: The site is obviously made by science teachers but it doesn't say who, or where they are from. I'd say this site is credible because it seems to provide you with good and accurate information, but you probably can't use it as a source for a research paper.

    Title: Researching cause and effect Author: Lance Jones Date published: Jan 15th, 2012 Why is this relevant: This power point is relevant because it gives you many recources that would help someone understand what cause and effect is. For example, it provides you with background information on it, states the 3 main characteristics of it, on top of providing you with many examples that really help your understanding of the topic. The slide is very user-friendly and easy to understand. It even provides synonyms for words in case you don't understand. How this influenced my thinking: It has influenced my thinking in a couple ways. One, i never knew there were so many aspects to cause and effect. There are two variables that must be related, two sides to the correlation, and the cause must come before the effect and not vise versa. Two, it really helped me understand why a person would use the cause and effect method, and also why it might not be the best method for some types of studies. Credibility of source: Although id like to think this comes from a very credible source, there is not really anything on the site that indicates it is....
