When 32 years back, Umrao Jaan released, starring Rekha as ravishingly beautiful, tragedy-stricken courtesan of Lucknow, the film broke all records at the box-office, and is still remembered for its uniqueness. The film was helmed by Muzaffar Ali, and written by Javed Siddiqui.The duo had planned that they would come up with a sequel to Umrao Jaan someday, and now they have united again for another film on a courtesan, however, it won’t be a sequel to the 1981 classic. In fact, buzz states that the director has abandoned the idea of the sequel altogether.Earlier, Ali had planned a sequel where Umrao returns to the 'kotha' and continues her life. He was to show Rekha as the aged Umrao. Siddiqui told the sources, "Two years back, we started working on the second instalment. And Rekha was more than glad to do the film. But now, the plan has changed. Rekha doesn't fit into my scheme of things now."It is learnt that Ali and Siddiqui were not happy with the fate met by JP Dutta's Aishwarya-Abhishek starrer Umrao Jaan, which was on the same topic. "Frankly, it is difficult to live up to the high standards of the original film. Also, most sequels or even remakes are not well received," Ali said.We’re sure it must have come as huge disappointment for Rekha and Umrao Jaan’s fans!

I would never respect a guy who is not an achiever,” she said.Priyanka’s next Yash Raj Films’ Gunday has launched its first teaser featuring her opposite two male actors- Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor. Priyanka, who is missing from the teaser of Gunday, says it's obviously a promotional strategy for the movie. “Obviously it's a promotional strategy. The film is Gunday and the boys play Gunday which is why the introduction for them was important. This is a teaser and in the theatrical, rest of the characters - me, Irrfan Khan and the boys will be there, and you will get to know about the film,” averred Priyanka.The film is releasing on February 14.

Being a Gujarati, Bollywood actor Sharman Joshi has all the traits of the community, and as the Navratri festival is on full-swing, he is also keen on getting into dandiya mode. He wants to pick up the dandiya sticks and dance his way out."I love dandiya. Being a Gujarati, dandiya is in my blood. During my college days, I was a champion in dandiya and used to win the first prize in it," Sharman said.Sharing past memories of the festival, he said, "During this time, you are allowed to go out even at night and play dandiya, besides you have girls in your groups too. This makes it the best time." His film Gang of Ghosts is a remake of the 2012 Bengali film Bhooter Bhabishyat, of which he says, "Gang... is a great concept, very unique and exceptional. Though it has an ensemble cast, I chose to be part of it as I have seen the original and was very impressed. I play the character that Sabyasachi Chakrabarty did in the Bengali version, that of a struggling writer. And this is the only character that has been changed slightly in the Hindi version while the other characters remain the same."Next he will be seen in Faraz Haider’s war comedy War Chhod Na Yaar, which also stars Jaaved Jaffrey, Soha Ali Khan and Sanjay Mishra. It will release on October 11.

Sajid Nadiadwala has roped in the talented actor, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, of Gangs of Wasseypur fame, for his upcoming film with Salman Khan, Kick. For the first time, Nawaz would play a powerful role in a out and out commercial film, Kick.There were news that floated media few months back about Randeep Hooda being signed on to play an important role in the movie Kick which is a remake of telugu money-spinner of the same name. The Telugu version had Ravi Tejaa, Ileana and Shaam in the lead roles. The film is about a man (Ravi Tejaa) who robs corrupt politician and business tycoons for the pleasure of his Kick, and a strict no nonsense police officer (Shaam) is assigned to nab him.It is reported that Sajid was keen to cast someone who will be able to perform dramatically. While details are kept under wrap on his character as it's suppose to be surprise but insiders say it's very powerful. According to the original version, only two characters are important in the whole film. The Con-Man and the Cop.Nawazuddin read the script and feel in love with the character. It is also the first time that Nawaz will be working with Sajid Nadiadwala as well as Salman Khan. Earlier to this, he had received a lot of accolades for his performance in Talaash and Lunchbox where he had dabbled into different characters.
