Tinseltown actor Robert Di Niro is seen playing memorable characters like The Godfather Part II, Taxi Driver and Raging Bull. However, when he was quizzed about his real-life heroes, he named out Nelson Mandela, Indira Gandhi and Mahatma Gandhi.Niro, 70, is presently in Goa, India, where he will be participating at the ongoing THiNK Fest 2013. Sharing his thoughts, he said, "I have many real life heroes as my inspiration. Mandela, Peres, James Dean, Marlon Brando and from India... Indira Gandhi and Mahatma Gandhi. They are strong people with a big heart," De Niro said on the sidelines of the festival. "I try to be more empathetic towards my characters. I try to understand its position by putting myself in their shoes. I feel I am lucky to get into these lives without having to pay a real price," he added. When confessed that he doesn’t remember his early film days, he said, "I really don't remember..." He also said that he has no idea why he wanted to be in cinema and he started his career at the age of 16. "I dropped out of school and enrolled in Stella Adler's acting school, to the surprise of my friends and family. When she (Stella) asked me why I joined this profession, I didn't have an answer. She answered on my behalf that since I wanted to express myself so I chose this profession. I nodded and repeated the same line," he said. Speaking of Indian trip, he added, "Indian people are very nice. I came here 35 years ago and promised that I will be back in couple of years. I got busy and even tried to come last year. But it didn't happen." Glad you came now!

Bollywood is reeling with shock over the fallout between actor Sushant Singh Rajput filmmaker Abhishek Kapoor. It has been buzzing that former has refused to do latter’s film citing his date issues. Sushant was launched by Abhishek amidst full fanfare in commercially successful film Kai Po Che. The actor, later, went ahead to sign two major films, Shuddh Desi Romance (released with descent reviews) and Peekay (Aamir Khan’s ambitious project likely to release in next year).However, it is reported that Sushant has snubbed Abhishek, his mentor, for other projects. “Sushant stabbed his mentor by giving Aditya Chopra preference over him. And, even as we write, details of this guru-shishya estrangement are still tumbling out, said gossipmongers.A close friend of Abhishek said, “Abhishek was shocked when he heard that he would have to wait in queue for Sushant's dates. Gattu's ego was also hurt because he would have to deal with Sushant's management team (who work under Adi) for all things related to the boy who he had given a break.”Well, this is not the first time when actors broke out with their godfathers immediately after their debut. Fukrey actress Vishakha Singh believes in doing quality work; that is the reason that she has rejected back-to-back films, which came her way after the success of Fukrey, which also starred Ali Fazal, Pulkit Samrat, Varun Sharma, Manjot Singh, Richa Chadda and Priya Anand.Also seen in films like Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey and Ankur Arora Murder Case, the actress is keen on doing roles, which offer her to prove her mettle in acting. "Post Fukrey, I have refused seven scripts. It's important to do what you completely believe in," Vishakha said. "I am game for anything - from drama, comedy, to thriller, romance and family entertainer. I want to try my hands at everything. I want to focus on good scripts where I have a pivotal role," added the actress, who will soon make her Malayalam debut with Rajesh Pillai's Motorcycle Diaries."The divide between the film industries is diminishing. I am comfortable in multiple languages. Once in a while, if good scripts like Motorcycle Diaries in Malayalam or a romantic comedy ValebRaja in Tamil comes my way, I will take them up," she said.Even though she is quite a known her in film industry, but doesn’t let that take a toll in her personal life. "I am not part of the rat race. At the end of the day, I know I did it on my own without a mentor, godfather or recommendations," Vishakha said. "I have seen the lows of the career very early on and have come to the conclusion that a Friday can change everything.
