Those who depend on Google Docs know how frustrating it is when you want to make a simple change from an iPhone, but can't because Google Docs is read-only on mobile devices. Until now, that is. Google has just introduced a new mobile editor that makes it possible to make changes to your Google Docs from any iOS 3.x or later device, as well as from Android devices running Froyo (2.2).

A Google Education Trainer is a bit different because it isn't as much about what you do in your classroom, it is about really learning the tools. To become a trainer, you must pass a series of tests designed to test your knowledge of Google Tools including the Google Apps for Education Admin Panel. Once you successfully pass all tests, you are considered a "Google Apps Qualified." To become a "Google Apps Education Trainer," you need to submit a video, a record of past workshops you've given, and a case study. The purpose of this process, is to show how you use Google Apps to both train other educators and innovate instruction.

Google Apps for Education is fairly new and has recently added Google Groups to the mix. Maybe with a little push Google would add even more to the list. To say that its disadvantages outweigh its advantages is simply overstated.

Conclusion The intentions behind COPPA are commendable, but the implementation has not been effective as the primary means to protect the privacy of children. The mechanisms set in place by COPPA do not help the public to understand the importance of privacy. Because implementations of COPPA are interpreted through the lens of safety, parents and children are unaware of how their decisions affect the use or misuse of their data. We believe that the Congress and the US FTC have an opportunity to amend COPPA so as to do much more to protect the privacy of our children in an online era in ways that will be effective. Data about children's online data usage, and the practices of their parents, can point the way. We appreciate the Subcommittee's willingness to accept feedback from researchers and hope that our short statement sheds light on how the current implementation of COPPA is interpreted by the public.

educational banking website designed for elementary school students. I discovered Bank Jr. through Donna Murray's excellent blog. Bank Jr. is an interactive website on which students can learn the in's and out's of banking. Bank Jr. has a glossary of terms, a help center, and savings wizards. Bank Jr. also provides students with a history of money and a look at how different countries use money. The teachers section of Bank Jr. provides an extensive glossary of terms and some lesson ideas. Bank Jr. does not provide full-length, detailed lesson plans, but it does provide PDF's of worksheets and handouts that teachers may find useful for teaching banking lessons. Yesterday, Common Craft released a new video that explains borrowing money in plain English. As always, Common Craft does an excellent job of explaining what can be a complex topic in a very easy to understand form. The video is embedded below in Dot Sub form. Applications for Education Bank Jr. could be a good place for students to learn about saving money and commonly used banking terms. In the teacher section of Bank Jr. teachers can find PDF forms for teaching banking basics like keeping an accurate ledger. The Common Craft video should be required viewing for high school and college students. Too many students get to college and get into debt in part because of ignorance about the pitfalls of borrowing more than you can afford to repay.
