The 90s act Pavement is Indie, slacker rock at its pop-sensible and rock-out-able best. To break that down a little more, Pavement is the type of band who was so clever with the way they wrote their songs, they never felt the need to dress them up with too many frills, stage shows, or glamor. Furthermore the idea of Indie, or independent, rock is anti-establishment in nature so the lackadaisical, or "too cool," presentation of the music was an important cultural element that was not lost upon Pavement's audience. For these reasons, this article examines one of the largest underground icons of the 1990s.

Freed will be honored not only as a radio disc-jockey and promoter of Rhythm and Blues, but as the "father of Rock and Roll". Alan Freed was the pioneer of independent music and helped pave the way for future music artists. The 2012 All Indie Music Awards will be a two-and-a-half hour show dedicated to music genres in multiple categories represented around the world to give recognition with a prestige music award. Listen to runner up band from Mt. SAC's 1st Annual Battle of the Bands. They surpassed 14 other bands to finish in the 2nd spot. This says a lot about how good a band that has only been together for five months. Personally, I was disappointed they didn't win the BOTB event. This article discusses The Parking Lot Experiment from 1996. It was an experiment conducted by the Flaming Lips, who also wrote the album Transmissions from the Satellite Heart. They are indie musicians who perform alternative music and independent music. These experiments established the Flaming Lips as one of the most creative indie bands of the 90s.
