He also discusses where the line between "fair use" and copyright infringement is currently considered to be, and the risks that artists take on when they choose to sample existing works." Exactly what we talked about in class: uncertainty, dangers, chained creativity (fewer sampling due to the expense of clearing rights, as well as having to hide the samples deep within the track due to fear of lawsuits).

The sampling that sparked my interest, by Chris Brown. Also, this site in general is cool because it is a record of past sampling.

Its amazing how well some of these samples work together. I am a huge fan of the number 1 choice and can't imagine it working as well without the dialogue of that particular movie

372 artists sampled in the latest Girl Talk album. He very clearly lists them in this and in his press release for the album. I suppose transparency is at least a good start toward dealing with lawsuits.

This dj group formed in the late 90s and makes most of its songs from samples from a bunch of old vinyls.  Their style is really different but has been pretty successful!  

Wonder if any songs entirely made of samples could be found

Jim Pavloff remakes Prodigy's "Smack My Bitch Up" in Ableton, and pretty much shows all the sampled songs! Amazing.
