This article was wrote in 2007 about why technology in the classroom is important. I find that these ten points are still reasons why technology should be introduced into the classroom. A text book is only one way to learn and technology: web, computers, apps can open up so many more doorways to learning.

Technology helping teachers work together in the classroom.

This article talks about the different apps that would be useful in a classroom setting. Some schools are offering Chromebooks to every student so they can use Google Docs so these apps would be beneficial for them to use.

I was inspired to share this after watching the TED Talk about Captcha. This isn't about philanthropic efforts per se but discusses what motivates people - and it isn't all about money. Scientific studies are referenced to backup the discussion and would be a great talk to share with your students as well as your peers.

This article presents 12 ways for teachers to easily integrate technology into the classroom. Even with basic ideas of creating a class website or using an online grading system, teachers are able to move away from traditional forms of teaching and are able to connect with others in new ways. Once technology starts to be incorporated in the classroom, I think teachers are willing to explore new programs and software, or simply learn to use one tool in multiple ways to benefit their classroom.

Not sure if this has been posted yet (there are more and more articles to comb through), but I thought this was a great article. This article features eleven online programs that can be used in the classroom. I love this list because a few of these resources are ones I can use with my video project! However, I kind of think some of these are "cheating" because not all of them are free :(

GREAT website for political cartoons. Since my lesson plan assignment is to create a political cartoon involving US foreign policy, this would be very useful for me. Also a great resource to show what cartoons are great and what ones are not-so-great (or WAY politically-incorrect)

David Schwen for The Chronicle Grades are broken. Students grub for them, pick classes where good ones come easily, and otherwise hustle to win the highest scores for the least learning. As a result, college grades are inflated to the point of meaninglessness-especially to employers who want to know which diploma-holder is best qualified for their jobs. This article proposes using badges for learning rather than earning.

In this article, Michael Horn talks about the future of technology in education by way of the blended classroom. According to Horn, technology is shifting views of education in such a way that eventually, students will be learning online and at their own pace. He also talks about technology from the perspective of global education, and what potential exists for children from all corners of the world to connect and learn with one another.

A script to grade google forms for you.

This article lobbied for instructors to teach ethical cyberspace behaviors in classrooms of all ages. It cited several schools all over the nation that have online behavior contracts and educational check marks in their curriculum regarding e-ethics. The article stated that kids have to be taught this because behavior in the e-world doesn't translate directly to behaviors in the real world.

This article highlights a couple really cool ipad apps that can be used in a high school math classroom. Everyone in my brother and sister's high school were issued ipads at the start of this school year so I really want to borrow one of their ipads and play around with these apps. I wasn't sure how I could introduce technology in my classroom and this article provided a few useful ways.

Great resource (again post to your page on your Google Site!). Some day you might be in a room with an iPad. I wish I could take high school again and focus on math. I could get the grades but I was NEVER confident.

I clicked on the link to iPad apps and it took me to a price page on the iPad. I don't know if ShowMe (https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/showme-interactive-whiteboard/id445066279?mt=8) was listed as one of the apps, but that is a must-have app in the math classroom! :)

This is a website providing many articles about technology in the classroom. The articles vary from distance education, to visual media, to acess and the digital divide, etc. This website can provide insight for the most successful ways we can all incorporate technology.
