The Evolution of Windows OS From Beginning to Present [INFOGRAPHIC] - 0 views

  •
The article, by Anita Li, is an infographic on the evolution of Windows Operating Systems from 1985 and Windows users, as well as popular technology and software at the time of each release. The 1985 description depicts a generic male figure hunching over the machine-block Windows 1.0, with the subtext "Won't it explode if I press this button?" This highlights what a large impact the first computers and operating systems might have had - people possibly were afraid of pressing any buttons in fear that the the hulking brick might explode. But as we know, technology advances, and people adapt. The infographic shows the housings becoming smaller as hardware becomes more compact, and OSs become more advanced. It also illustrates the "first Internet experience" along with Windows 98, Google with Windows 2000, Skype and Solitaire with Windows XP, Facebook and the XBox for Windows Vista, and Twitter for Windows 7. The users also change, where Windows was generally used by adults in offices, it is presently used by a younger age group of teenagers for social networking and the like. As it was made out to be, I find this infographic very interesting. It shows a stark contrast between the first computers and computers today. Not only does it show the evolution of Windows OSs and its  users, it also illustrates the evolution of technology and how society has developed around it. Computers have become much more portable with the laptop, and their versatility is unmatched. Ultimately this infographic is an advertisement for the 2012 release of Windows 8 (dubbed "Thinner. Lighter. Faster."), but it does generate some thought, letting the mind ponder about past, present, and future technologies, and how society has and will adapt to the constant change.

Google's Nexus 10: It's Not An iPad, And That's A Good Thing - 0 views

  •
The new Nexus 10 is better than the iPad because it's lighter, it's thinner, it's easier to hold, and it has big loud speakers you can actually hear. The iPad feels precious and glass wants to shatter. The aluminum just wants to get scratched and dent. The Nexus 10 feels like it's built for working and playing. Its outer shell is made out of rubber so you can grip it. The edges are sloped so you can hold it in a variety of ways. The Nexus 10 has a resolution of 2560 x 1600 which is better than the iPads 2048 x 1536. The Nexus 10's wide screen is good for movies and is great for playing games because the speakers are on the front. The Nexus 10 supports multiple users on one tablet, the iPad doesn't. This is portable computing because the Nexus 10 has some many better things than the iPad and you get your money's worth if you do get the Nexus 10.

Toshiba unveils ultra-thin laptop | Technology | guardian.co.uk - 0 views

  •
It has been announced by Toshiba that their newest notebook is the thinnest laptop ever made. This is exciting but also a very impactful statement for not only just the world of technology but for our entire society. There has already been significant improvement in the size, weight, and portability of laptops but this new invention being known as the "thinnest" ever is surely a huge step for what the new standards of laptops will be in the future to come. I am certainly excited and I highly anticipate this new product due to the idea of in over a year's time, the way I use a computer, a huge technology aspect in my life, will be altered in a way where everything I need can be accessed and used in a thinner, faster, and lighter experience.

  •
Iphones and ipads are already slim enough, if they want to change something with there devices they should up the battery life. As a apple user, I think the slimness of the products are good enough, the only problem I have with them are the battery life.

3D-printed cast concept uses ultrasound to heal broken bones | The Verge - 0 views

  •
A university Of Wellington graduate from New Zealand invented the Cortex cast. It is a 3D-Printable cast and has many benefits over your traditional plaster and fibreglass casts. The cortex cast is breathable, aesthetically pleasing, thinner/lighter, and waterproof. Though the start-up cost for a large 3D printer is expensive, the casts can be printed cheaply after. This technology is also being paired with 'Ultra Sound" healing. (LIPUS) is known to help heal fractures by up to 80%. I believe this cast in the future will be the one everyone will want and everyone will use. Once 3D printers become a standard piece of equipment in hospitals, the "Cortex Cast" will take over.

Samsung Galaxy S3 vs Apple iPhone 4S head to head review - reviews for UK IT profession... - 0 views

  •
This article is about the difference between the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the iPhone 4S. Both phone are in the major types of phones that are hitting the markets for the past year. There is a major difference between the two phones, the software is built differently. Until recently, Apple, the company that produced the iPhone, has been using Samsung parts into their new phone, the iPhone 5. There is a bigger difference between the iPhone 4S and the Samsung Galaxy S3, the size, the screen the bigger, it is much lighter and also the phone is built curved because it would be easier to talk on the phone with. Even though the iPhone has a longer battery life, a Samsung android, will be still able to last you the day without any lag or difficulty. Personally, I like the Samsung S3 better because with the iPhone, Apple comes up with a new product each year over $500. To be honest I wouldn't really spend the much money on a phone that has another series coming out. Another reason why I would rather choose a Samsung Galaxy is because it would be nice to have a challenge with dealing with a phone than having ios which is fairly simple.
