i chose to talk about Siri because i think Siri is a very useful tool. Siri helps me personally and makes not just me but my parent's lives easier to, for example when my parents are driving and the law is you can't use your phone and drive at the same time, Siri helps making a phone call with no hands. Siri also helps you get information more easily, all you have to do is tell Siri what you need and it will search and find the info for you. i also think Siri is good because you can take notes and save contacts more easily for example you tell Siri to make a note it will record what you say and add it to to your notes. This is why i think Siri is a great creation and it makes peoples lives way easier.

This is great for baseball players because they can control their careers on their phones, and don't have to worry much about scams in their contracts. This article talks about the upcoming iWatch by Apple. The concept is by Todd Hamilton and is based on the Nike FuelBand. The iWatch itself will be manufactured with Richtek Technology, TPK supplying chips and sapphire touch panels and the processor that the device is said to run in developed by Apple. The exact features of the iWatch are currently unknown but there are rumors that the device will include biometric sensors to check health-related statistics, sleep activity, UV light exposure, and heart rate. Reports say that the new iWatch will be released later in the year with the iPhone 6 and iOS 8. This article shows how Apple is moving forward to creating more products other than just phones and computers. Maybe soon they might start creating kitchen appliances *joke*

Union is a new type of "Photoshop" app for your phone. This clever app allows you to load multiple images and blend them together in creative ways. This app allows for double exposure on photos for a cool effect, or simply making certain layers of photos transparent. The blending of pictures and using certain effects allows users to get very professional and artistic looking photos. This app also includes tutorial videos on how to use the app for particular artistic ideas. Photos created can then be transferred to your camera roll or other large social media outlets such as twitter and instagram. I personally believe this app is great because I have used many "photo shop" apps and they have all been lacking a certain something while Union seems to provide everything I need to edit multiple photos.

Although the android market place has been number 1 in downloads for a while now, they've been lagging behind in profit, but that gap is closing. The market place, already receiving 45% more downloads than the apple app store, is becoming more and more popular. Expanding markets in developing countries is aiding the expansion. Ultimately, android's reasonable pricing for phones is contributing to a huge boom in phone and app sales. Although this is the case, the market place is still far behind the App Store in revenue. The app store is currently making apple 85% more than the market place does for android, but those numbers are changing. One day soon, Android may topple apple's dominance in the app world and take its place as king.

This flash media server is similar to cloud computing as flash content is processed off the device on a larger machine which outputs the data back onto your device. Apple says that flash is not safe which was proven when some coders found a major security flaw within adobe flash a few months ago. They say that because flash is propitiatory it will interfere in their software/hardware production which apple excels in because they are in full control of the entire process. But there's also the fact that apple is making millions off of the games sold off of the appstore. If flash was available, those games would not need to be bought but instead be played for free via the internet

With these new headphones, you can look cool while listening to music on your iPhones, iPods, and iPads. Sounds like a really bad infomercial, but these guys sell for $129 a pop, with 10mm drivers, a 360 MEMS microphone and a three button controller. If you've got the money, go for it, and improve your listening and music life.

With the release of iMessage, one of the many new features that come with iOS 5, people are foreseeing the downfall of SMS. BBM has already started this downfall, and now with iMessage, of those millions of people who have an iDevice and a phone, i am sure they will most likely stick to the iDevice. This article is about how Apple's competition with Google is hurting both Apple and its users. The removal of Google maps and no Google+ integration in iOS6 is an example of this. It relates whats going today with Apple in 1985-1997 which had tried making many unsuccessful products. The author believes this has to do with its strong competition with Microsoft. The company that created the Angry Birds franchise, Rovio, came out/released the Angry Birds Star Wars game.  This game is available on Android, iOS, Windows Phone, PC and Macintosh systems.  There is a free version and a paid version of the game.  The paid version of the game adds HD graphics.  There are more than 80 levels in the F2P version.  All though the general idea of the game is the same, they have added little things that are unique to Star Wars.  You start the game on Tatooine and the settings you play through are planets and the death star.  Another addition is the change is bird abilities.  For example, there is now a bird that holds a lightsaber and can go through obstacles.  This game, personally, sounds very interesting and I am sure to download it.

As many iOS users know, when you receive a message, you need to navigate to your Messages App and type the message. With this new app, a pop up appears, and you can answer all of your important messages a lot faster. This relates to Portable Computing because in this day and age it is very important to get things done as fast as you can. This app is very handy and can be very useful if you are using another app and do not feel like hitting the home button. I feel that it is worth paying $0.99. 

This article demonstrates that the popularity of the Harlem Shake has urged people to get creative and think outside the box. A developer, Filippo Bigarella, has created an iOS tweak that essentially lets the icons on your springboard do the Harlem Shake. Harlem Shake videos have gone viral over the past few months and the most popular ones get millions of views a day. Since, many sports teams and popular YouTube channels have made parodies of the popular song. The closest viral video that this can be related to is the Gangnam Style video by Psy that currently has over 1.4 billion views. Although the Harlem Shake is popular now, soon enough it will be yesterday's news and some new video or song will be viral. This article relates to the elifestyle tag because the Harlem shake video has literally become a lifestyle for some people and parodies are sweeping the internet everyday. Overall, this is a pretty cool tweak that I would definitely use if I believed in jailbreaking.       

Recently, there have been a lot of passcode exploits, especially on the iPhone and Samsun Galaxy. On the iPhone, it can allow the attacker to access their way into the Phone app, letting them place calls, see/edit contacts, and access photos via the "assign new picture" option. On the Samsung Galaxy, the attacker can flash whatever was open before the phone was locked for a second. This is enough time to launch an app, which can be repeatedly downloaded and completely unlock your phone. The article suggests the user of the phone should download the Apple's Find my iPhone app or Prey, which can track the location of your smartphone if it is ever lost or stolen. This, they say is the best protection for your personal information stored on your phone. These passcode exploits can let one worry and doubt how much protection the lock screen actually provides. The truth is they are no more secure than any other password or PIN, which means they can eventually be cracked. However, it is still suggested to always lock your screen, just in case it is robbed by someone who does not know anything about getting around locked screens. Many companies are aware of the issues and is releasing new techniques, like the iOS 6.1.3. Hopefully, with time, these password problems will not be an issue anymore.

This article is about a music streaming service that Google might release for their Andriod Operating system. A few months ago, Apple was supposedly working on a music streaming service for their iOS and now Google is joining in, increasing the rivalry between them. Because of the on going rivalry between Andriod and Apple, both companies are trying to take all the necessary steps towards buying over their fans. The music streaming service would enable the customer to play music without actually having to download it. You would stream the music from the application with your internet connection, and since Google and Apple are developing these services, all the audio files that will be streamed will be playable on the device in use. This is a good way to get people to listen to music without actually having to download the song illegally and listen to the song they want to buy before purchasing it. This service could boost hardware sales, but they would not make a lot of money from the actual service itself, since its hard to make money with an ad-supported music streaming service.

Recently, problems have been occurring with the Apple company. That problems is about the upgrade to iOS6 in Apple's products and that they replaces the Google Maps app with their own new, Apple Maps app. Surprisingly, these maps were actually a downgrade from the Google maps since it has some bugs. One of those bugs is about how the map won't exactly pinpoint the location you want to find. The CEO Tim Cook apologizes for this downgrade but offers people to use other apps that can help replace this while it gets fixed and gets better. It's a good thing he said this since this map app isn't something their customers would expect from the Apple Company. This relates to portable computing since this maps app can be used also as a GPS although the map has bugs with pinpointing locations. Apple needs to step up their game to satisfy their customers

New "surveillance--proof" app, Silent Circle has been released providing an easy way for people to text and call people without anyone else ever knowing what has been said, including ISPs and governments. This app makes sure no one can eave drop on your personal business by using what's called encryption. Encryption is the process of changing data into a secret code, the secret code can then only be read by the device you are trying to communicate with. The encryption codes are randomly generated each time the app is used so it is almost impossible to crack the code. This app is can be used on iOS and is currently in development for other devices and platforms as well. Some feel that free communication should be a right, but governments must be feeling a little bit nervous about this app. I chose the tag "privacy and security" because this article is about how Silent Circle has given people an easy way to speak in a secure and private environment without any intervention from anyone else other than the communicators. In my opinion I feel that free communication is important, but people will abuse this through using this app to possibly deal drugs, plan terrorist attacks, or other illegal activities. Who knows, maybe even the government controls this network to monitor people who use it, but that is just a theory.
