My favorite poet to use when teaching students about non-traditional/non-rhyming poetry and my favorite in general. He also spent the last 40 years of his life in Lake Oswego teaching at Lewis & Clark College.

This site promotes training for teachers in the field of human rights. There is a Lesson Plan related to Identity, which I think is key to starting a process of social inclusion. Eventhough I don't teach children, this lesson could be adapted for adults.

You can also find activities to do for the earth day. This website gives you a lot of activities for your class: Vocabulary, interactive activities. Teaching our student to care about earth and using English I guess is a good idea.

I like to use this site for teaching kids about reading charts and graphs; side benefit is making them more aware of the world they live in.

It is a Page where we can find many activities to work in our classes. It 's important to teach our students about human rights in order to get a better world. Human rights are universal and we have to teach how some culture can affect these rights. This page includes human education activities, culture and changes activities and so on

I am very interested in adopted and foster children. I believe every child has the human right to a safe and healthy home environment. Unfortunately, this is not always the case. This is a great website I found that helps teachers navigate with this sensitive human rights issue. It's a great resource for not only understanding how to approach adopted students, but also how to teach other children about the lives of those whom live with guardians that are not their parents.

It describes how divorce, single parenthood, poverty can affect families. It is useful to know yor student background because it is not a matter to teach them English it is, also, how the students can overcome difficulties. You can use the reading to avoid sensitive points in your classes, and to know which activities children prefer to do with their parents. I always tell my students, today you are going to tell your parents what did you learn in English, many, not all, receive possitive words about it and it shows how you can use English to create an activity children can share with their parents. This site shows something that we are losing: Values. We need to be aware that one of our duties is to reinforce family unit. We have to work not only with children but with their parents, too. You can use the information to create a comfortable environment between children and their parent. I take every opportunity to share my opinion with parents. Parents who don´t speak English I always afraid about it. With this site you can tell them that the responsibility of teaching English is yours ( their English teacher), but the responsibility to motivate their children is theirs (parents), This site can help them to prioritize their family activities, to show interest in their children activities. A Channel to improve listening skills

Excellent reccomendation I really enjoy discovering real world related listening activities for the students because tney can be able to understand language in original contexts. This is an innovation because I just use videos about news or alike but the work done by a colleague eases our teaching.
