I really like this article for all the different issues it brings up and how it connects to another case that went viral about a year or so ago. This is the case of Henry Louis Gates Jr (who, by the way, edits The Root, which I suggested you add to your news feeds. He is a famous (black) scholar and porfessor at Harvard Univeristy. He locked himself out of his house and had to break into it. He was arrested doing so and the (white) policeman did not allow him to retireve identification. Long story short, the policeman treated him like a criminal, the professor got indignant and things went from bad to worse. This incident went viral and was seen as a clasic case of racial profiling. It got so heated that the President of the United States had to bring Professor Gates and the Policeman to the White House to resolve the dispute over "a beer." Try interchanging races on this one--Would it end up at the White House? Anyway, This article compares what happened to Professor Gates to what happened to Trayvon Martin. Very interesting analysis. Jadyn, This is an excellent article that hits on so many issues having to do with race. Who gets to be "white," how do we define "white," does the color of the individuals involved in an altercation/homocide affect who is guilty or innocent? If you haven't chosen an article yet, I'd take a serious look at this one. I'd like to come back to this one for discussion or use it for the next section. Great job posting a complex article.

I like this article because of the bias opinions and the conspiracy theories is poses.

This is not so much an article, but it gives you some different opinions and stories that I thought were interesting.

I do think this article has bias. It is a fairly conservative publication gloating about the witness statement and shaming other usually considered credible publications for how they have covered the statement. I find it interesting.

Bias article about the case, favoring Zimmerman. Allows him to plea his case and apologize for what happened.

Goes well with the "What if George Zimmerman Were Black?" article

It is smart for us to realize that racism is everywhere--not something that is seen it the US alone. We seem more sensitve to it becasue our values (All men are created equal, equal opportuint, the American Dream etc) tell us that there shouldn't be inequality here.

This is frightening. We might try a search for coming race war. I don't even like to think there is a segment of the population out there who is actively preparing to wage this war. Definitely something to read/research more about.

When we study visual rhetoric this will be a great story to come back to. A great look into how we can be manipulated by imagery.

I really like this article becasue it puts into perspective how the US perceives gun laws and people's rights and how race becomes a factor in justice. It raises a lot of questions and I find it really interesting. Thanks for this!

I think it is a great read. At least you can cut and paste it into your browser. These sort of hypothoses are really interesting.

I remember watching 2 of these episodes in Psychology Class, I couldn't find any episodes on YouTube, but if we could watch one; it would be extremely eye opening

Not related to the case but a great video on the impact of appearances, so maybe could make some connections on skin color and appearances and stereotypes that go along with them

This is such an amazing study and video. For anyone who thinks things have changed, just watch the doll study that is replicated here from the 1950s! It makes me cry every time I watch this video. Hard not to when you see these little kids' faces.

I loved how she replicated the experiment, but sadly the numbers really haven't changed and my heart was breaking with the kids gave their reasons on why they chose they certain dolls they did for each question.

I found this article interesting because it can go both ways. The defense can be accused of desperately digging for "dirt" on Trayvon or the defense could have proved that Trayvon wasn't well behaved.
