This article by Jamie Myers and Richard Beach discusses the many benefits hypermedia has in education. I recently did an internship at Inspire charter school where most of their classes were Internet based. This particularly interested me because they use blogging websites. I was pleased to find this article that discusses how students are able to personalize a website to give an edge to their writing. Students are able to bring a creative edge to their writing and essentially find their voice easier because it more personalized. Blogging is also more conversation based and allows for the writing to be less formal and more interactive.

This is an article by Kathleen Debevec, Mei-Yau Shih, and Vishal Kashyap. This article examines the differences between students who learn with technology compared to more traditional methods of learning. Some students were learning through mediums that were web based and others were simply using textbooks and formal note taking. It looks at what strategies promoted a more positive performance in the classroom. It also compares all of these different standpoints that could possibly make students have a higher exam performance.

This is a book by Richard Beach, Gerald Campano, Brian Edmiston, and Melissa Borgmann. I have read it before but it's also one of the required books in the capstone class for English Education. It is a wonderful book that goes through critical inquiry and how one can teach through it. There are multiple chapters about how a teacher is responsible to promote a positive student agency. Literary tools is a broad topic and I'm still working out the kinks in what it is exactly that I am interested in. But this book goes through every possible form of writing and how they can promote literacy in a modern classroom. The book touches on narratives, question-asking, spoken word, and digital communication and how they encourage critical inquiry. Through all of these students learn to create their own identity not only in the classroom but also create a parallel to the real world.
