#1 Ashley Sawyer on 27 Feb 12This is a book by Richard Beach, Gerald Campano, Brian Edmiston, and Melissa Borgmann. I have read it before but it's also one of the required books in the capstone class for English Education. It is a wonderful book that goes through critical inquiry and how one can teach through it. There are multiple chapters about how a teacher is responsible to promote a positive student agency. Literary tools is a broad topic and I'm still working out the kinks in what it is exactly that I am interested in. But this book goes through every possible form of writing and how they can promote literacy in a modern classroom. The book touches on narratives, question-asking, spoken word, and digital communication and how they encourage critical inquiry. Through all of these students learn to create their own identity not only in the classroom but also create a parallel to the real world.
