This site gives a great timeline of the history of media. In our readings we read Brooke Gladstone's "The Influencing Machine" where she also gave an interesting account of the history of media.
This website has a short and sweet explanation for all of the elements and principles of design, which I feel like will come in handy later on when/if I need to quickly review some basic differences between the few of them. This page specifically focuses on the importance of value.
We read "The Influencing Machine" this week by the author, Brooke Gladstone. I found this book to be an interesting take on things and wanted to know more about the author. I bookmarked this site because it gives details as well as links to Gladstone's work.
This video does a great job of discussing shape and value. I thought it was interesting to look at the beginning stages of a drawing and what to focus on first when you are creating something.
An article discussing the meaning of different shapes and what they can do to a presentation when using them. I think this is helpful because it gives us an understanding of the certain connotations of certain shapes that are going to be used.
A video on Adobe Indesign with a tutorial about adding text into shapes and things. I figured this video would be helpful for two reasons because of the subject that we just learned and because it is on an editing program that can help with the projects.
Another book on design written by Frank Chimero who goes into more depth about shape. I thought this source would be helpful because it is another perspective on what we have learned about shape in design.
This video is an automated short of one of the parts of Brooke Gladstone's book, The Influencing Machine. It is identical to the scene in the book but the added audio and animation made me understand the meaning and feeling behind the scene much more.
