Since the choice to abort is one of the biggest reasons why people want to defund planned parenthood it is being looked at as more of a moral decision. The way democrats and republicans feel on this topic is completely different therefore has been making it harder to make the decision on it. Defunding planned parenthood for this reason would basically be taking away a women's right to choose.

The new voting law requiring the presentation of a state issued ID before casting a vote is creating quite a controversy. The Democrats are relating this law to Jim Crow. This law should not a very big issue if your a US citizen. If you do not have an ID you cannot contribute very much to our country because almost every job would require to see an ID.

What Edward Snowden has done is to force a long repressed debate about how much liberty, if any, we need to sacrifice in order to protect our security. Before his leaks, that urgent conversation was a non-debate because the violations of liberty were being done entirely in secret, beyond the reach of democratic deliberation.
