South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley signed a bill into law Thursday that will bring down the Confederate flag outside the Statehouse, a move that seemed unthinkable only a month ago in this Deep South state that was the first to secede from the Union.

Another post with the hatred symbol being removed from society. I enjoyed reading this article just as much as the last about the Confederate flag being removed.
  •
This can go either way for people with different backgrounds. The flag can either mean independence and freedom but some take it as being different from the U.S. and it is tied to racism even,
  •
The flag does represent a rebellion against the American government.

The law makes it possible to charge a woman for using drugs during a pregnancy. There are also rehabilitation treatments that are offered but many contest that it will intimidate possible candidates.

TECHNOLOGY AS A THREAT TO PRIVACY: Ethical Challenges - 0 views

  •
Although this paper was written back in 1996, I find its vision uncanny. To note that this paper was not written in the United States nor Europe or Canada, but in South Africa. J.J. Britz brings together the concept of privacy as it relates to ethics, confidentiality, socio-economical effects, and autonomy. Well written and researched.

Women's Apathy Over "Women's Issues" - 0 views

  •
Slate publishes an article discussing the usage of contraception in America. The governor of South Carolina, Nikki Haley, states that women care as much about the issue of contraception as men do. Political science shows that there is not much of a difference in view points when comparing men and women.

This site easily identifies which states government have the most control over their citizen by a large margin. Ironicly New York, California, and Maryland are some of the most oppresive states. While New Hampshire, South Dakota, and Colorado rank among the most free.

Its champions have argued it's a symbol of Southern culture, the historic flag of the South. Critics say it's a racist symbol that represents a war to uphold slavery and, later, a battle to oppose civil rights advances. We take a look at the flags of the Confederacy to sort out the facts.

  •
Civic leaders, activists, artists and others are celebrating, marching and paying homage Monday to Martin Luther King Jr., marking the 30th anniversary of the federal holiday honoring the slain civil rights leader. In South Carolina, civil rights leaders planned a march to their state capitol as in past years when their rally highlighted calls to remove the Confederate flag from Statehouse grounds.
  •
I'm really glad this symbol is being recognized and taken down in other states, especially those with discriminating acts recently taking place.
  •
I think this is a great thing. Especially considering all of the racial issues we have been having lately through out the country I think this is a huge step in the right direction.

The highest state rates fall in the South and West. Locations of the shootings Each marks the location of a deadly shooting.
  •
I think that it is great that people are looking at both shootings made by not only regular people yet also people that are shot by the police. I think it is an interesting statistic to look at.
  •
It is good to get the stats on the number of people killed by the police and other individuals. That way, no harsh bias can be argued.
