Medical Marijuana has been studied to fight cancer cells and make those in too much pain to be comfortable. Why shouldn't this be legal? Plus, kids on the street on going to use it anyway, why not be able to control it? It would be easier to moderate that way.
  •
This article talks about medical marijuana an how it helps with cancer patients. It talks about how kids on the street are able to get it no matter if it is legal or not so why not make it legal.
  •
In this article, the author explain how if legalizing marijuana or cannabis, you benefit those with medical needs. Revealed: US spy operation that manipulates social media | Technology | The Guardian - 0 views

  •
The US military is developing software that will let it secretly manipulate social media sites by using fake online personas to influence internet conversations and spread pro-American propaganda. A Californian corporation has been awarded a contract with United States Central Command (Centcom), which oversees US armed operations in the Middle East and Central Asia, to develop what is described as an "online persona management service" that will allow one US serviceman or woman to control up to 10 separate identities based all over the world. The project has been likened by web experts to China's attempts to control and restrict free speech on the internet. Critics are likely to complain that it will allow the US military to create a false consensus in online conversations, crowd out unwelcome opinions and smother commentaries or reports that do not correspond with its own objectives

Law Will Allow Employers to Fire Women for Using Whore Pills - 1 views

  •
A proposed new law in Arizona would give employers the power to request that women being prescribed birth control pills provide proof that they're using it for non-sexual reasons. And because Arizona's an at-will employment state, that means that bosses critical of their female employees' sex lives could fire them as a result. I like that this article gets down to the nit and grit of what an outlandish claim everyone is making against birth control. This article is explaining how invasive this policy is to allow employers to decide on whether to provide insurance for birth control.
  •
This proposed bill actually says that an employer can ask to see a doctors note saying that the woman is perscribed birth control, but has to be for other reasons than not wanting to get pregnant.

Gun Control Around the World: A Primer - 1 views

  •
This article looks at the gun control laws in other countries and the reasons why they developed those laws. IN 2012 the death of 20 children at a school in Newtown Connecticut caused an upraise in the debate on whether we should have a more strict gun control law or not. President Obama tried getting semi-automatics and military style weapons banned and having a more strict background check was defeated in the senate in 2013. Since the mass shootings in 2015 Obama is trying to rekindle the bill.

Should America Adopt the Gun Controls of Other Democracies? - 1 views

  •
Author D B Kopel argues that gun control in countries like Great Britain, Australia, Switzerland, Japan, New Zealand, Canada, and Jamaica is not the reason for their low crime rate. In fact he states that their gun control law is the cause for more burglaries and that gun registration has been proven in these countries to be valueless in solving or preventing crimes.

Gun Control Timeline - U.S. Government Info/Resources - 1 views

  •
This article shows the timeline of the governments plans for gun control laws over the years
  •
I feel like the gun control that is currently in place is good, but we need to help people get trained for better safety if a situation arises!
  •
Gun control in my opinion should be regulated, not be taken away from the rights of Americans. Some people can be dangerous with huge amounts of firearms without regulations.

  •
On Wednesday, President Obama initiated 23 executive actions designed to help combat gun violence. But as he himself acknowledged, there's only so much he can do on his own. The "most important" changes, he said, need to go through Congress. "To make a real and lasting difference, Congress too must act," said the president.

Will the Catholic Church Win Its Suits Against the Obama Contraception Mandate? - US Ne... - 0 views

  •
You will find this article is comparable to oral contraception law, but also deals with the religious organization should be exempt from providing their employees with birth control. Here is a something I found interesting " It argues that while churches themselves are exempt from providing birth control to employees free of charge, "religious schools, hospitals, and social services don't qualify as religious, and must therefore provide these drugs and procedures."

Why drinking age should be lowered: Dr. Ruth Engs - 1 views

  •
The legal drinking age for the U.S. should be lowered if the situation is being supervised in certain environments. Many drink underage to "rebel" against society norms so lowering the age would not call for such rebellion. Binge drinking would not take place if environment is being supervised.
  • ...1 more comment...
  •
The legal drinking age is currently twenty-one. If we were to lower this age limit, the author states " young adults allowed to drink in controlled environments such as restaurants, taverns, pubs and official school and university functions. In these situations responsible drinking could be taught through role modeling and educational programs".
  •
Should the legal drinking age in the US be lowered to 18? Articulates that young adults should be allowed to drink in a controlled environment.
  •
I agree and don't think it is any different than teaching young adults how to have safe sex if they choose to have sex. If someone is going to choose to drink at 18, 19, or 20 or 40 for that matter they should be held responsibile for their actions at any age. Why do the laws say purport that a person is an adult at age 18, can drive at age 16, but can't drink until 21? I think it's hypocritical to say someone is an adult at age 18 BUT, you can't drink until your 21.
