Hello Everyone, Module 3 instruction asked us to explore articles about our transition from student to APRN. As we discussed in class and from guest panel, I realized that mentorship is really important. While I was looking through emory DiscoverE about mentorship, I came across this article that highlights how important it is to clarify the term "mentorship" when I am talking to my potential employer because it can mean different for the employer. The article really highlights how important it is to find a set definition for the term "mentorship". If the link does not work, I have the article downloaded, but I cannot seem to attach it here.

This is research article discussing if the "residency" programs that are starting to pop up for new grad APRNs are helpful. I found this interesting because we briefly discussed the residency positions during the new job panel.

This is an older but fascinating article about a midwife working in Gardener, Massachusetts in the 19th century. Hanna continued to attend births of mostly the immigrant population of the city despite being told by courts to cease. She was convicted of "practicing medicine without a license" and had to pay many fines and spend 3 months in a correctional facility. Note that the charges brought against her were never from clients, but from the physicians working in the area.

This resource goes into details on the role of the NNP and shows the progression of how the profession has come to be established and known as a provider.

This article gives a great glimpse into the need for ENP programs in order to support our health system in emergency care. It was written in 2011, so before ENP certification was approved by the ANCC.

This article is about the scope of practice of midwives and childbirth outcomes. It discusses the relationship between autonomous practice and better birth outcomes. The article suggests there should be future policies to expand the access to midwifery services.
