The orientation described in this article is something that sounds appealing to me as a new grad. It exposes practitioners to didactic and simulated experiences, focused peer support, formalized resources, and includes a preceptor.

Even though it took a long time to achieve this, 40% of Georgia APRNs do not write prescriptions. Georgia is one of the most restrictive states for APRNs so policy changes are recommended to enhance to scope of APRNs.

I think it provides great insight into transitioning process of becoming an APRN. This article outlines the important areas in which to consider when accepting and working at your first job as an APRN. It compliments the panel today very well.

A great article detailing APRN and Women's Health.

Research Support, N.I.H., Extramural; Research Support, Non-U.S. Gov't The articles explore the benefits of interdisciplinary care models and shows evidence of the importance and benefits of an interdisciplinary model of care. It highlights how intentional interdisciplinary practice can yield outcomes that are beyond the ability of a single professional to produce and further affirms that nursing can play a pivotal role in developing and implementing these care models and in leading these IPCP teams.

This article is about how important it is to articulate your role as a nurse. I love how they explain articulating your role as a nursing competency. I think this is a great article for this class as we learn what the APRN role is and how to articulate it to our inter professional teams. The researchers in this article focused on analyzing what kind of economic impact that giving APRNs full scope of practice in North Carolina would have. They calculated the impact by first projecting the increase in APRN graduates choosing to work in the state after full scope would be awarded. Projections of the increase in demand for providers due to both the ACA and an aging population were also taken into consideration. The findings in this analysis were that giving APRNs full scope of practice in the state would benefit the economy with increased output, employment, and tax revenue all while decreasing provider shortages. The state could save upwards of $495 million in gross product annually.

Hopefully, results such as these will give other states with more restrictive policies incentive to change their practice guidelines.
