Redefining the Whole: Common Errors in Elementary Preservice Teachers' Self-Authored Word Problems for Fraction Subtraction - 2 views

  •
Effective mathematics teaching is required to improve mathematics education. The experience that the teachers provide shape the students' understanding and their ability to use mathematics in their daily lives. This research study was carried out by a few UCF faculty members, as well as some from other colleges and universities. It focused on pre-service elementary school teachers and their ability to contextualize and decontextualize fraction subtraction problems by both writing problems and choosing problems that support given expressions.

this website was found through the US. Department of Education. It gives parent helpful practical examples of how they can use everyday task such as shopping at the grocery store to get kids motivated and practicing their math skills. These type of hands on practical approaches are always great to do with young kids because it's a way to capitalize on their free time and to have them practice what they are learning in school without feeling like they are in a classroom.
