University of Houston: A storyboard is a written or graphical representation of the all of the elements that will be included in a digital story. The storyboard is usually created before actual work on creating the digital story begins and a written description and graphical depiction of the elements of the story, such as images, text, narration, music, transitions, etc. are added to the storyboard. The elements of the story are arranged in the storyboard in the chronological order in which they will appear in the story and this allows the developer to organize and re-arrange the content for maximum effect.

This free website allow you to create collaborative stories with your students. The stories can be view and published. Students can vote for the stories they like. Stories are created in groups of 5.

This is a great resource! I have an interactive whiteboard and the students love listening/viewing the online stories. I think it also shows a positive message from famous actors that reading is important. Thanks for sharing!

This website is provided through the Screen Actors Guild foundation. Stories are read by actors. There are about 25 stories geared more for younger children. They provide options to comment on the stories or buy the books.

Story lines is a fun app for developing stories as a team. It follows the same pattern as the game of telephone. One student begins with a phrase and the next student draw the picture. It follows with other students adding on to the story without knowing the original phrase.

Digital Storytelling is now being widely used in the classroom. Teachers are not only showing the digital stories of others but also having students tell their own stories and others' stories. Using multimedia energizes students to dig into research that they are otherwise sometimes loath to take on.
