A superb example of "remixing" for popular culture content. While not, obviously, licensed for remixing (via Creative Commons or alternative), this parody (consistent with fair use of copyrighted materials) still showcases tactics involved in remixing (e.g., excerpting, re-sequencing, adding content elements) in a way that creates a new work from the old.

During the preschool years, young children are developing a sense of initiative and creativity. They are curious about the world around them and about learning. They are exploring their ability to create and communicate using a variety of media (crayons, felt-tip markers, paints and other art materials, blocks, dramatic play materials, miniature life figures) and through creative movement, singing, dancing, and using their bodies to represent ideas and experiences.

This website provides a great deal of valuable information for both educators and students pertaining to NASA and Space in general. Lesson plans for K-12, free supplemental teaching materials, educational TV schedules and professional development workshop information is all available for educators on this site. For students, this website has interactive games, videos and printable activities for grades kindergarten through 12th grade. I have used materials and ideas from this cite many times, and find it very useful and easy to incorporate into any lesson.

Free STEM curriculum for educators

The Science Spot is a one stop shop for free lesson plans, resources, worksheets, hands on activities and numerous other resources. If you teach science this site should be on the top of your favorites list. The quality of the materials and resources on this site are excellent and best of all it is free. 

Great website for K-6 Educators for enrichment and supplemental materials for Science and Social Studies. Students can use the site to explore information that is formatted in a fun and easy-to-read way. Or, they can use the site to play games, take quizzes, look at photos and maps, look up crafts and recipes, enter contests, and more. Teachers can use the site to project on an interactive whiteboard for quizzes and whole-class games. I like the site because it is culturally-rich and informative, yet kid-friendly.

Digital Storyteller is a web-based tool that offers teachers and students frictionless access to digital images and materials that enable them to construct compelling personal narratives. Digital Storyteller was developed as an initiative of Primary Access. You can enter this site use guest login without registration. 

This online interactive game is geared toward second graders in the hopes of introducing and reinforcing economic concepts. Students begin by creating their bakery and selling items. They soon begin to realize that to sell an item they need the materials to make it. To get the materials, they need money to purchase them. The game is highly engaging, however, a several discussions on the economic concepts are needed before students begin to grasp them concretely.

Bibliotherapy refers to using written material to help individuals process difficult situations or changes in their lives. Bibliotherapy has roots back to the 1930s when librarians created lists of written material to assist individuals to cope with life's situations. The assumption of bibliotherapy is that during reading, the individual will identify with the characters and their situations.
