I have used this website in Kindergarten and am excited to see that there are plenty of resources I can use for second grade. The NCTE is composed off dedicated teachers who share their resources, strategies, and best practices with others. You can enjoy the benefits of being a NCTE member by enrolling in the membership. Many of the resources are free and can be used in the classroom. There are lesson plans and student interactives to use for any subject on a computer or smart board. The great thing about this website is that parents and children can access it at home for after school resources. There is community involvement and professional developments that one can attend.

This site has tutorials for multiple different math subjects providing many examples. Once you select a math level you can then select the individual topic and this site provides help with interactivity for students as they work towards the solution.

This is a fun site that can provide practice for keyboarding skills in young children. Many different games are available.

Looking for a way to incorporate Facebook into the classroom but can't because of your filter? This website offers a way for students to create their own Facebook accounts not for themselves, but for historical figures. Take a look at some of the pages created for Benjamin Franklin, George Washington and many others! Students can browse or create their own! What a great way to get their imaginations going on an historical topic!

This site has many resources and ideas on how to use technology in the classroom. It mentions things like Twitter and how to implement mobile devices. With this day and age, I think this might be useful! I particularly like the links to K-2 resources!

The FLDOE website is so full of information sometimes navigation can be a challenge. I liked this list of Florida fieldtrip resources. Many have free teacher resources.

I know field trips are not as easy to organize these days, but here's a link of Florida field trip locations I found on the DoE web site. A lot of these locations have pretty cool interactive web sites that offer "digital field trips" which could be an alternative.

A to Z Teacher Stuff has so many resources! Just found lessons for the 100th day of school. We are celebrating that in Kindergarten in about a week.

An intruiging search engine provided by google that allows you to search for one topic (ex: fractions) and gives you books, translations, videos, 3D explorations and more.

These resources are great! I use them for reading groups and as centers. Many are only $19.99- The kids love them too!

I love children's museums, and their websites! Even if a trip to the museum is out of the question, websites often offer a virtual field trip from home. Students can explore exhibits, play games, and teachers can print out lesson plans. I do this before every trip to DC. Many of the Smithsonian's even have downloadable apps.

I was turned on to this site in my Elementary Ed program. I used this in my 6th and 8th grade classes as ice breakers and for groups. Knowing a students learning style can assist with many overlooked academic and discipline issues. One example, kids that looked bored in lecture classes really loved the hands on labs and vice versa. Trying to hit multiple learning styles helps reach more learners and increases the exposure to the learning goals.

This site provides many applications for pictures or video such as edit, download, add, and design. The site also offers lessons for students to acquire skills. This is useful when the student is using the site to design and add three-dimensional effects of the classroom that help students visualize the environment and their effects through the image to develop the sensory side of the student. The student can also download images on the site and engage with other students, teachers, and parents.

A great resource for teachers, parents and even students on cyber-bullying. Considering how many students take part in social networking this is a very important topic!
