This is part of the FlDOE website. The problem with the site is it vast. When you log in navigating is not impossible just more complex due to the amount of information on the site. I selected this link because it takes you directly to the FCAT links and resources offered by the DOE.

Spitting Rhymes for Flashy Grades: The Link Between Hip Hop Curriculum and Improved Lea... - 0 views

One, two, three, four - give your algebra class a hip hop beat score! Researchers have been studying the link between music and learning for decades, and recent research suggests that listening to music does indeed enhance the brain's ability to absorb new information.

Sadly, according to this county website, technology programs are offered during non-school hours. Of course, this does not account for the good that is going on in individual schools in the district.

With my daughter being a recent UCF graduate in Elementary Education, she has given me insight on her internship experiences in Marion County Schools. In her opinion, she noticed that if and when technology and media resources were available, the teachers did, in fact, make use of them in the classroom. This is definitely encouraging to me.

Tablet Apps for Education - 1 views

  •
A great website for teachers to incorporate tablets in their classroom. A teacher can search applications according to subject area and grade level. Along with rating the application, the site gives the compatibility of the app such as, does it work with IOS, andriod, ipad, or ipod.

Just For Teachers - FL Field Trips - 6 views

  •
The FLDOE website is so full of information sometimes navigation can be a challenge. I liked this list of Florida fieldtrip resources. Many have free teacher resources.
  •
I know field trips are not as easy to organize these days, but here's a link of Florida field trip locations I found on the DoE web site. A lot of these locations have pretty cool interactive web sites that offer "digital field trips" which could be an alternative.

FCAT Explorer - 0 views

I loved using this site to help my students practice skills in reading and math prior to completing science practice. Unfortunately the science test is testing reading comprehension as much as it tests science. If students are great at hands on experiments but cannot associate a paragraph of written material to the hands on activity, then they will not do well on FCAT Science. FCAT Explorer will help with those skills prior to science lessons.

12 Fabulous Academic Search Engines ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning - 0 views

  •
In the world of academia, Google search engine does not always serve the purpose because most of the time its search results are not exact . I am a huge fan of Google but when it comes to academic search queries I often have recourse to other search engines that are area or content specific.

The Florida Digital Educator program supports the appropriate integration of technology into K-12 education. Visit the Florida Standards website for information about the Sunshine State Standards. Each photo is available in multiple sizes great for student and teacher use. A friendly license allows teachers and students to use up to 25 free photos per project.

This website provides digital resources for schools in Florida.

This website is AMAZING. It has clip-art, photographs, presentation images, maps, lessons, and answers to tech questions. There are so many images available, they are free (up to a certain amount, but it is very generous), it tells you exactly how to cite them, and it has options for file size and format. It took some clicking/digging around, but this is what led me to this site: FL DOE - Educators button at top - Curriculum, Instruction, Student Services - Instruction & Curriculum - Instructional Technology - Educational Technology Clearinghouse

Thanks for sharing. I am building resources for my developmentally delayed students and often go to by pre-made resources. As I get up to speed, I realize I would like to build my own. Is Boardmaker Online user friendly or does it require extensive practice?

From FLDOE site - but also a site that we live by in 5th grade at my school. Gives access to sample FCAT questions based on standards, as well as videos and other resources online that can be used.
  •
Great teacher resources for all grade levels. Includes lesson plans for each subject area based on standards, free printables, virtual manipulatives, and a scheduling component.
  •
Great resource for lesson plans and curriculum mapping
  •
This is by far the best site the DOE has to offer. The curriculum maps are easy to design and there is a plethora of lesson plans for each standard for every grade level to work with. This is especially nice when you have little resources from your district!
  •
This seems to be the go to site for teachers right now. I use this a lot to help me with my lesson plans and to find out what technology resources are available.
