Great resource for teachers, parents, and students. It's a search database that categorizes math topic by grade level and it explains concepts in plain step by step terms. This type of website would be awesome for parents that are not math savvy to use to brush up on their math skills or to relearn math concepts while trying to help their children.Great for teachers to refer to as a secondary way to explain a concept beyond their knowledge and the textbook being used.

This brief article is an early work by Dr. Ian Bogost related to what he would later refer to as "procedural rhetoric." In this piece Dr. Bogost draws parallels between various processes essential to being "literate" at different points in history. With what "processes" do we need to become literate as educators in the 21st century? How can we help others become literate?

This sounds a lot like learning by doing. If students can't experience battle re-enactments, or visit musuems and historical sites, or travel to parks, or act out a story, technology might afford those luxuries. Computers, iPads, even smart phones can provide virtual field trips and experiences. Students can further share these experiences through social networking. As an older generation, I feel it necessary to keep learning how today's youth are communicating so I will be able to connect with them and bridge that gap in their education.

Not a fan of Diamond, but I did like Guns, Germs, and Steel. As it relates to learning, I do agree that there is great benefit in constructing your learning. I imagine a day when we will be able to choose from a vast assortment of resources that will allow us to illustrate specific terms or concepts and from those resources we can build knowledge, sort of like a Lego model.

This article offers a list of app for the children to use in the classroom or at home. What I liked most about the list was there were several apps for special needs children and apps that could be customized by parents/teachers for individual learning.

This is a great resource! I have an interactive whiteboard and the students love listening/viewing the online stories. I think it also shows a positive message from famous actors that reading is important. Thanks for sharing!

This website is provided through the Screen Actors Guild foundation. Stories are read by actors. There are about 25 stories geared more for younger children. They provide options to comment on the stories or buy the books.

This is an educational site in which teachers will find a large collection of reading suggestions and materials for their students. The site lists all of the books found in the Young Patriots series, which is a series designed for children. It then goes on to provide additional websites and links for each specific Patriot and individual mentioned. As you explore a little further, you will find several short videos on each of these individuals that can be used as great lead ins to any lesson about these Patriots. I found this cite to be very easy to use and navigate through, and filled with great resources and content.

This website has some great information for parents and teachers on how to teach children how to spend and save wisely. The website also features several games and other interactive sections for students to explore and learn more about money. This is a good website to allow children to explore as a center activity or as a whole class.

Now, almost everyone has a mobile phone and the concept of trying to guess where someone might be before you call them is almost entirely redundant.
