This article is by Dr. Hoffman, Associate Professor and Coordinator of the ALIMA program at UCF. It provides guidelines for creating digital learning materials for those with accessibility issues, such as learning disabilities, or vision and motor impairments. The fact that I had no idea that's what the article was about (I was thinking about general accessibility for everyone) is an indication that this is a topic that deserves more attention, awareness, and application in practice. The article will be freely available as a PDF from this webpage when on campus or logged into the UCF proxy server.

The Georgia Department of Education website listed this page for curriculum access for students with significant cognitive disabilities. They have developed many resources to support the instruction of students with significant cognitive disabilities.

Digital Storyteller is a web-based tool that offers teachers and students frictionless access to digital images and materials that enable them to construct compelling personal narratives. Digital Storyteller was developed as an initiative of Primary Access. You can enter this site use guest login without registration. 

A high level discussion of issues involved in school districts using cloud-based services systemically. Beyond the technical issues, of chief concern is restricting access to student data.

Although a lens to view the future is clouded, and must be filtered through the past and present, the ability to stand back and think about the impact of technologies on student learning will undergird research in technology for the education of children, youth, and adults with disabilities in the 21st century. We must view the coming changes, and they will be massive, from the perspective that technology provides access to learning but does not control it; that technologies are not the content of education鉹ather, they provide a cornucopia of tools for learning.

In The National Geographic Kids Blog, a group of kids selected by the National Geographic staff share their thoughts and experiences. This is a great blog for kids to follow and be able to read about things that interest them and what other kids think. Teachers can use this as a resource to introduce kids to safe and educational places on the internet that are interesting to them as well. I found this in the "Online Safety" section of Kids.gov, accessed via the publisher companion site of our textbook.

This lesson plan from Interface Magazine suggests ways to incorporate Twitter in your class. They seem so easy and practical but I never would have thought of some of these methods, and I was even an early Twitter adopter. Make sure to watch the video under "The Twitter Experiment"! I found this in the "Featured Resources" section of The Gateway to Educational Materials, accessed via the publisher's companion site to our textbook.

The Best Practice Web site provides information to help college leaders develop innovative solutions to challenges which face their institutions. The Web site may be utilized to learn about new techniques, improve processes, create new programs, make current programs more effective and enhance outreach. This site also offers an opportunity for users to access information on successful programs/strategies and share knowledge. Information regarding exemplary programs within Florida's College system may be submitted to the Division by following the link "Submit Best Practice" below.
