So you've heard someone talking about QR codes? Or you've spotted these strangely-patterned black and white squares appearing in advertising material? Or you know what they are but just want to see how you can best make use of them? Well here are resources which will help to explain what QR codes are, what they look like, how you can create them, as well as how others are using them both within and outwith the classroom.

QR codes are an engaging way for students to explore information and express their learning.

"Data visualizations and infographics can make complex datasets easier to understand and comprehend. By creating a graphical represenatation of data and statistics, complicated concepts and information can make more sense in less time. Many visualizations focus on representing a specific set of data or statistical information. Others focus on less-concrete topics, providing a visual representation of abstract concepts. Generally speaking, the first type appear more like graphs or charts and the latter are often more creative and imaginative."

Thanks for sharing Ayako! I've only had a quick look at this resource, but it looks like it could be very helpful - particularly some of the lesson ideas which work in with the TPACK model and clearly highlight how the outcomes of the Australian Curriculum are being met.

This site is excellent if you are looking at purchasing numeracy resources. Although they are only for purchase you could still take away ideas and make them yourself.

This numeracy video was created for educational purposes and designed for students teachers and parents to use as a resource when teaching fractions in a junior primary setting. Our video aims to communicate the importance of numeracy as a life skill as it shows how numeracy can be used beyond the classroom. For example, real life situations such as baking a chocolate cake :)

This video could be used as part of numeracy learning experiences, either as a base to a numeracy lesson, lesson introduction, or lesson idea. It could also encorporate cross curricula links to subjects such as ICT and Home Economics!
