Classical Net - 0 views

  •
website focused on classical composers and repertoire. This website will be a good learning tool for my learning project because it has small biographies on each of the composers I have chosen to put on my list. It will give the students information and it will help them get started on the project. There are also other helpful parts of this website, like being able to look at literature and articles and links to other articles and websites. Students can learn more about pieces they play other than just who wrote them and how they sound.

Treeture Treasure - 0 views

At this site, the kids will be able to practice skills, enrich their skills, and review. Once you enter the website, there are various "treetures" that you can click on. If you click on Mama Greenleaf, she will go through all of the leaves with you. When the student put's their mouse over the solid leaves, they change to real life pictures. The kids can learn facts about the leaves here. The site helps students review the three types of leaves in which they are learning about (simple, compound, and conifer). There is even a quiz that they can take. I'm using this website because it lets the students to learn/review at their own pace and not feel pressured. The parent's could also assist the students to discover the other areas of interests on this site such as twigs, branches, forests, planting trees, etc.

Penguin--Treasure Hunt - 0 views

  •
website is a "Treasure Hunt of Penguin Facts." The Treasure Hunt consists of about 12 questions that require the student to research the penguin information on the Sea World website, so that they can find the correct answers for the Treasure Hunt. If the student scores well enough on the Treasure Hunt questions, they might be inducted into the "Explorer's Hall of Fame." The Treasure Hunt is just a fun way to get the students motivated to learn and read through the information about penguins. The combination of these two websites gives students the opportunity to learn about penguins in an exciting hunt for penguin facts.

MICDS United States History Course - Course Overview - 0 views

  •
The site uses an electronic timeline that serves as backbone for the entire coursework throughout the year. Students post all work to the site. This includes individual and collective research work, a writing component, factual assessments, and an emphasis on presentation, collaboration and discussion. The site places an emphasis on active learning that they hope will strengthen skill development (technology, research, historiography, communication). The end of year the students produce a substantial final project.

You can search many subjects. I searched for punnett square practice and a punnett square calculator. The URL is http://www.classbrain.com/artteensb/publish/creating_punnett_squares.shtml. This is a really neat site, and it complements my lesson plan well. Under working out punnett square examples, there is an interactive quiz, where students can keeping choosing answers until they find the right one. There are quizzes for both monohybrid and dyhybrid crosses. Also, under the punnett square calculator, students can choose mono or dihybrid gametes to cross. The F1 generation appears. After doing an in-class lab on punnett squares, it could be fun for students to play around with this calculator to compare their results with what the calculator actually gets. It's a fun way for them to check their work, and have fun, maybe without realizing they're learning.

This website has games for kids to play and practice what they know. There are different categories so while on this one site a child would be able to practice skills in science, math, English, language, health, and computer skills. In each of these categories there are many different games that cover different areas. In the math category for example there are games about money, adding/subtracting, and place value. There are plenty more but those are just a few. In the science category there are games about animals, body and space. The games are in order of course level. This site is generally for younger children. It lets them practice skills while playing a fun game. They are very simple games and a young child would catch on very easily.

Capzles - 0 views

  •
Capzles is a unique timeline type of Web 2.0 tool that lets you create unique storylines by implementing images, video, and audio files directly into the timeline. Currently, Capzles is absolutely free and there are no downloads or plug-ins required to use the tool. The way I could use this website/timeline tool is by asking the students to look back at their earlier years of life and record when they think they started using each level of math up to where they are today. I will write down what level of math they did by talking to their previous teachers to find out what they learned. I will then compare what they actually did to what they thought they did.

This website has many resources and videos for quick and easy to understand segments related to a wide variety of science topics. I believe that clips could be edited and shown in the classroom for certain topics that I believe are better explained in a video segment. They have a section called "tips for teachers" that gives useful resources. If we have the fortunate ability to have computers in the classroom this site would provide many activities for kids to enjoy in groups or individually. I believe it would be fun for the students which would encourage learning.

This is a website where children can review what nouns are. There is also a place to go for learning Proper nouns, concrete and abstract nouns, but I would only use this site as a way for students to review and have fun.

Kidinfo.com - Your Guide to Educational Powerpoints for Learning - 0 views

This website would work in a third grade classroom perfect. I think that it would work perfect because it is very easily to access. It is also very easy to use because all the lessons are setup for you and ready to use. The materials that are in this website are perfect for this age group. Some of the categories are: Art, Famous Explorers, Library skills, and math mathematics I would work them into my lesson by asking the kids to take turns reading what's on the overhead and then we would stop to talk about what we learned. We would also have quizzes after our PowerPoint presentation on what we talked about.
