HotChalk is a collaborative online resource for preK-12 teachers, students and parents. It provides an easy-to-use learning management system accessible by any Internet browser, a media-rich library of teacher-contributed lesson plans and digital content, including audio, video, textbook, and assessment content as well as online professional development for teachers.

I found this an interesting web application. Please Note: HotChalk's online tools and community content are free, but their premium content like NBC News video and McGraw-Hill Education's professional development courses require a paid subscription. They do give you a free trial. Another note: HotChalk covers all preK-12 subjects, including Math, Science, Music, Language Arts, Computers & Internet, Social Studies, Art and Physical Education. Their mission is to improve the lives of teachers.... I have to agree with that goal...

PicArtia is an online application that gives you the opportunity to create your own photo mosaics for free. You can use your own photos or download others from the web. PicArtia is free to use, however you can order high quality versions as well. HIgh quality prints start at $3. Mapness is an online travel journal that provides users with a place to share their travel/vacation experiences. Mapness gives users the opportunity to pinpoint places they've visited on an online map and add photos and/or videos easily. With Mapness, you can follow someones trip, track your own trip, or go back and view a trip you took previously.

Online Allowance and Money Management for Kids Although Zefty functions like a bank account, there's no real money involved. Parents set up each child and specify how much allowance they get and how often. It's their money, you as a parent are simply holding it for them - so the mom and dad are the bank.

This is a really easy, but very fun site to use. Students and adults can create picassoheads to use as icons and images for stories or in place of a virtual photo of themselves. In my district students' photos cannot be online.

This is a free site that allows users to preview picture books in their entirety. Users can rate and review books, create an online bookcase, and purchase books for their classrooms. A great way to view books without having to go to the library.

Tikatok is a great site that allows children to turn their ideas into real, hardcover books. With this application, children (with the help of their parents) can post stories online for friends and others to read, and even print the tale for their bookshelf at home. Pros: Creat stories from scratch or get some help from the site, stories are stored on the site, read and comment on posted stories, upload/scan in pictures/illustrations Cons: n/a

Planzone provides a host of smart tools like to-dos, milestones and wikis designed to make you more efficient and your work more fun.

I am going to try this application in my classes next year. I tried it for about a week. Added comments, content, and set up assignments. It seems to offer the basic class setup with some great FAQs and demos. It may be the answer to my questions about class wikis also...

This seems really simple to use. Great for kids learning English. I would like something a little more sophisticated for 5-6th graders.

this website looks like it takes the place of Imovie or Windows Movie Maker. Some of the videos or photos may not be 'x-rated' but probably arent a good idea for school
