    1. Students have cell phones, game consoles, and access to other technology. Let's call out industry, the NEA, our government and anybody else; that we want a computer for under a $100.00 that runs web 2.0 web based software and operating system that will allow, all school systems and students computer access at a minimal cost. Let's make government cut the red tape, the cost, to get access to the computer and software.
    2. We have the greatest entertainment industry/enterprise in the world creating video games and movies and other visual technology to grab our youth attention. Why can we/ government not call on this talent to develop education/ learning materials for the classroom and teachers?
    3. Last, if teacher had the above resources / teaching aids that worked and that they did not have to generate from scratch. This could free the teacher to work with students that need the extra help and free up the teacher to learn this new technology given to them.

I have used many Web 2.0 tools in my classroom
*Safari Montage has many videos that relate to technology, engineering and sciences. They supply information and view that can not be given out of a textbook or other media.
*Another one not even on the list is Google Sketch-Up that gives my students an introduction to 3-D modeling and architecture.
*Google Sketch-Up then plays into teaching the student how to use Google earth in modeling the earth projects that Google has in linking the two software packages together.

The negative is that BCPS does not allow us to download the latest version which does not give us the full power of web 2.0 software.

Just try to watch this class assigned videos on your school computer at school. NOT. The county has a long way to align with the technology that is out there. They have not even update the last two operating systems from Microsoft. Why is WIKI introduced to most teachers just this year with little or no training? Or should we wait to see if the county aligns to another technology?

There are plenty of technology penalty in the classroom for there are:
    * Computers that can not find the BCPS site/server.
    * Computers that have batteries that do not hold a charge.
    * The student or students that do not remember their login or password.
    * The WIFI network that goes down during class.
    * The student that download a program to the laptop computer from their IPOD.
    * Students are not working on the assignment and are surfing the web.
    * The site that you used last year is no longer there.
    * Programs that you can not load because you need adobe shockwave or another program to run it.
    * Etc.

You work around it and you prepare the students to work with you when it happens.

Engagement: Teacher will post a question that causes the students to do a web search of the main topic/subject for the day. This then creates a discussion of what they found.
Exploration: Teacher uses a PowerPoint or Safari or websites to supply information that is needed for the students to understand what information is needed for the assignment.
Explanation: Teacher uses PowerPoint, Word documentation and/or other media in the student class assignment folder to issues guidelines and structure for the student assignments.
Extension: Teacher will challenge the students who are allowed to use the computer for such programs as: Excel, Word, Google Sketch Up, PowerPoint, basic programming language, Parallax boards or other technology to complete the assignment from the assignment folder.
Evaluation: Students will have a parallax board that runs a program. A student's PowerPoint that show the understanding of the subject. A Student's Word report that show an understanding of the subject. Or create a matrix for the student's in-order to grade the assignment.

    1. The teacher-student and student -student collaboration is the one that I could see working in my ATA and ADA classes in that I already have students working on reports on computers in the classroom. I believe the Wiki will allow for better tracking of the students on what is being imputed on the project. Thus causing the students to be more involved and eliminate one student doing the project and the other student just relying on the good student doing the project.

    2. The implementation of the plan will require me to learn another software package in-order to not be stumped by my students since they expect you to have all of the answers or they feel you do not know your subject area.

    3. The majority will find it to be a new toy to learn and then learn how to use it in their school and personal life, if they are not using it already. The others will use it to make excuses; such as, they do not understand or want a step by step "show me."

    1. Although I have more of a tech back ground than some of my peers, I do not use all of the technology around me. My students and children spend more money and time on technology thus giving them more access to technology and allows them to use of it on a daily bases. This makes me feel overwhelmed in what they know; making them better at using the technology and it gives them more time using that technology. Thus when students use technology, it looks like it comes to them naturally.
    2. I find that the county holds back the experimentation of technology by block sites and downloading of software in order help teacher keep up new technologies. Thus if the teacher is not able to use it, the students will not get the chance to use it in the school.
    3. Teacher evaluations are still given on how good the students do on benchmarks and tests with or without the use of computers. Until school system change and training given to teachers, the educational system will lag behind.

Webinars fits what I see students doing on their phones. I believe this is what students know and if they know it. It this gives them the opportunities to make comments without being face to face. It also gives the ability to read, research and plan their comments. Student who do not understanding the subject will have time to read other's comments which will help them to clarify the subject being discussed.
